Abstract: The invention relates to get the geographical coordinates taken by GPS integration with LASER Range Finder and Compass. This invention is one of the most efficient technology which saves money, time and resources for survey application and services.
PREAMBLE TO THE DESCRIPTION (Complete specification):
The GIS data collection experience and workflow for field crews can be challenging, where
surveyors are not able to get the Latitude/Longitude where open sky conditions are not met like
comer of a building, tree, forest. hilly area and any blind area. To get geographical coordinates
of blind areas, a method comprising of GPS, Compass and Digital LASER range finder is
presented. Developed system provides survey points in Blind areas, visualization of data
oflline as well as online and further survey engineer can download the surveyed data. This
technique wiJJ resolve problems in Survey in blind area using GPS and it saves time, money
and resources as well.

3) Background of invention with regard to the drawback associated with known art:
There are various existing ways to get geographical coordinates of any point such as Plane table,
Theodolite, Total station, GPS.
For obtaining the Latitude/Longitude of Blind areas and forest areas using GPS requires
innovation and improvements.
4) Object of invention:
To find possibilities to perfonn GPS survey in Blind areas. Integration of Digital range finder,
Compass and GPS/DGPS provides latitude/longitude of Blind areas.
5) Statement of invention:
Requirement of GPS survey is open sky. Hence if one require to survey comer of a building,
trees or any area where keeping GPS, directly close to the area the view of sky is obstructed. In
these situations GPS will either initialize or will give enormous value of latitude/longitude.
Therefore it is advised to keep GPS away from these types of objects which obstruct sky view

fully or partially, and get tile offset value of these objects close to the GPS, LASER and
Compass.
In the developed system along with GPS, digital LASER and Compass are integrated to
indirectly calculating the latitude/longitude of the object by adding offset to GPS value.
6) Summary of Invention
A method comprising of GPS, DGPS, Digital LASER range finder and Compass use to get the
coordinates of a location where a surveyor is unable to reach or open sky condition s not met.
Laser range finder emits laser beams. Those beams bounce off distant objects and the range
finder's high speed clock measures the total time it took ti·om when the beam let\ tile unit until
they returned. Since we know how fasr the beam wa~> travdling (speed of light) the unit can
simply use that time measurement tu calculate the distance it traveled, and it displays the
distance to the user. Digital Compass Provides azimuth angle (9) in radians. Integrating
Compass, LASER Range tinder and GPS provides gcograrhical coordinates.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
To get the location data (latitude/longitude) of a point, one needs to occupy that location with
GPS, which may not safe and practical always. By integrating LASER rangetinder and an
electronic compass with GPS, one can reduce field data collection time by eliminating need to
occupy every point, following steps to find out GPS points of remote location:
In this system, surveyor gets his location (latitude/longitude), from that known point he marks
points by LASER Range Finder. He can take multiple points from that particular location. This
system allows person to stay at one location and record the position before moving to the next
location to do the same.
