A Method Of Producing A Metal In A Metallurgical Furnace

Updated 12 months ago

Abstract

A method of producing a metal in a metallurgical furnace (10) is disclosed, wherein anode scrap (1), to be charged into a molten bath is in the form of a generally rectangular shape having a pair of leading and trailing ends and having a pair of laterally outwardly-extending shoulder protrusions formed at said trailing end, said method comprises a charging step of charging anode scrap into the molten bath while preventing the anode scrap from impinging on a furnace bottom during charging ; and wherein said charging step comprises the step of turning said anode scrap in a vertical plane to increase resistance to be exerted by the molten bath on the anode scrap to such an extent that the anode scrap does not directly travel to the furnace bottom on charging ; and wherein in said charging step the anode scrap is turned such that when the anode scrap reached the molten bath, the anode scrap is brought into a generally horizontal posture.
