A Novel Isolation Of Bisacurone From Turmeric

Abstract: There are a variety of inflammatory diseases happening to the common men. The possible factors may be of internal and external origin. There are many synthetic non steroidal anti inflammatory drugs available to treat the inflammatory diseases. But most of them pose adverse side effects. Long time consumption of these products will have adverse health effects. This has led to the emergence of natural products with proven clinical backgrounds. One such compound with anti inflammatory property is bisacurone from turmeric. The novel extraction process allows recovering the compound from the matrix.

Specification

1. FIELD OF INVENTION A NOVEL ISOLATION OF BISACURONE FROM TURMERIC
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
There are dozens of inflammatory disorders. Many occur when the immune system mistakenly triggers inflammation in the absence of infection, such as inflammation of the joints in rheumatoid arthritis. Others result from a response to tissue injury or trauma but affect the entire body. There are a variety of synthetic drugs available for treating the disease. Many of them act by inhibiting the action of disease causing agents. Long time consumption of these NSAID will lead to serious health effects. The present invention relates the isolation of a natural compound bisacurone from turmeric which has got potential anti inflammatory property.

2. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
The mechanism of action of NSAID to treat inflammation is well known. Non steroidal anti inflammatory agents may act via single or combination of any of the mechanism involving inhibition of araehidonic acid metabolism, inhibition of cyclooxygenase (COX)/inhibition of the PG synthesis, inhibition of lipoxygenase (LOX), inhibition of cytokines (IL, TNF, etc.), release of steroidal hormones from the adrenals, stabilization of lysosoma membrane and uncoupling of oxidative phosphorylation, etc.
From ancient days onwards, Turmeric is regarded as a golden spice. Turmeric raw material contains many valuable phytochemicals which has got many medicinal properties. The active compounds of turmeric pose anti-inflammatory properties. One such isolate from turmeric is bisacurone. Bisacurone is a bisabolene sesquiterpenoid. Bisacurone inhibits TNF-a-mediated expression of VCAM-1. It showed significant suppressive effect on ROS generation in response to TNF-stimulation and it blocked nuclear factor-kappa B (NF-KB) p65 translocation into the nucleus and phosphorylation of inhibitory factor KBa (IKBCX). It also inhibited phosphorylation of Akt and PKC, which are upstream in the regulation of VCAM-1 by TNF-a. Bisacurone is found to be a proven anti-inflammatory compound with health benefits. Our Novel extraction process allows isolating the same form turmeric matrix.

3. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
The recovery of active compound from natural matrix has got many practical difficulties. Our Novel isolation technique allows recovering bisacurone from turmeric with good recovery efficiency. The chemical structure of bisacurone is depicted below:
