Abstract: Drug discovery and development is still a hurdle for those concerned. High throughput screening processes continuously give rise to a gamut of new molecules; however, a majority of them fail as prospective drugs due to, in part, poor pharmacokinetics! If successful, the method by which the drugs are delivered to the target site has a controlling effect on their bioavailability and consequently on the therapeutic effectiveness. Most of the carriers are comparatively expensive also. Our novel invention relates the introduction of a natural carrier for drug which will increase the bio availability and efficiency of the drug. The present invention aims at developing a natural drug carrier from the spent of turmeric extract.
1. FIELD OF INVENTION
A NOVEL PROCESS OF EXTRACTING TURMERIC FIBRE AND ITS USE AS A DRUG CARRIER
DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
Majority of the drugs are often administrated by oral route. These traditional delivery approaches rely primarily on the dissolution and stability properties inherent to the API (active pharmaceutical ingredient) and modifications achievable through the incorporation of pharmaceutical^ inactive components. Thus the demand for design and deployment of new pharmaceutical materials, especially composites of known and reproducible structures is increasing day by day. The natural fibre from turmeric matrix is good alternative for drug carrier. Our present invention relates the isolation of fibres from natural turmeric spent which will ensure proper drug delivery.
2. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION
Drug delivery is the method or process of administering a pharmaceutical compound to achieve a therapeutic effect in humans or animals. Drug delivery systems can in principle provide enhanced efficacy and/or reduced toxicity. To obtain a given therapeutic response, the suitable amount of the active drug must be absorbed and transported to the site of action at the right time and the rate of input can then be adjusted to produce the concentrations required to maintain the level of the effect for as long as necessary.
Turmeric is gifted with an amount of more than 20% of fiber in it. The stems and petioles of turmeric can be used for preparing fiber reinforced composites. Researches and studies are carrying out to make use of this in full way. Turmeric fiber shows some unique properties, which make it versatile. Some of them are as stated: After chemical treatments, turmeric fiber improves the tensile strength, while reinforcing in matrices. It shows low density, which make it a good choice for many light weight composites. The distinctive water pockets help to embed and release a wide variety of drug molecules. The encapsulated drugs are released in a sustained manner from the fiber matrix. This will ensure proper drug delivery and thereby increasing the efficiency of the drug. The active components get trapped in the water pockets and will be released at the time of reaching the active spot. Our present invention relates the development of a novel isolation method of turmeric fibre from turmeric spent.
3. BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
The isolation of micro fibres from turmeric is an emerging field. The spent matrix of turmeric is a waste product in the production industry. Our present invention relates the development of isolation of turmeric micro fibres. The novel extraction method will ensure a alternative for a synthetic drug carrier.
