Abstract: Diabetes Mellitus continues to be worldwide common disease infecting many of the middle aged and aged individuals. There are many possible reasons for this which may be of internal arid external origin of the body. Many drugs are available for treating the disease which include synthetic drugs and herbal extracts. Long time consumption of these drugs may will lead to many side effects affecting the liver. This has led to the use of the herbal extracts. Our unique formulation includes a combination of eight highly effective herbs which are used for treating diabetes. Our Novel extraction poses also enables to recover the active components from the raw material.
1. Field of invention
A novel formulation for anti diabetes.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
Diabetes mellitus (DM), both insulin-dependent DM (IDDM) and non-insulin dependent DM (NIDDM) is a common and serious metabolic disorder throughout the world. Several oral hypoglycemic agents and insulin therapy are the primary forms of treatment for diabetes. However, prominent side effects of such drugs are the main reason for an increasing number of people seeking alternative therapies that may have less severe or no side effects. Several medicinal plants have been used to control diabetes in the traditional medicinal systems of many cultures worldwide. But in case of natural drugs it lacks pre-clinical studies and background. Here we are focusing a drug with its active components in highest purity. The right choice of medicinal plants is also an important criterion for preparing a drug. Extraction method also plays a critical role in recovering the active species from the raw material. The unique formulation includes a blend of natural herbs, which is highly effective in treating diabetes.
2. SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
This invention relates the use of a combination of natural herbs with highest biological efficacy. Many of the natural herbs are used for treating diabetes. The herbs used in our unique formulation include Curcuma longa, Symplocos racemosa Aerva lanata, Strychons Potatorum, Ixora Coccinea, Gymnema Sylvestre, Vetivera Zizaniodes and Phyllanthus Emblica. The active components responsible for treating diabetes in Curcuma longa include the so called Curcuminoids. The Aerva lanata comprises the alkaloid, flavonoids, phenol, tannin, proteins, amino acids and carbohydrates respectively. The isolated alkaloids from A. lanata leaves are canthin-6-one and P-carboline, hentriacontahe, p-sitosterol and it's D-glycoside, a-amyrin and betulin. The flavanol glycosides viz symplocoside, symposide, leucopelargonidin 3-glucoside are responsible for the hypoglycemic activity of Symplocos Racemosa. The anti diabetic effects of Ixora Coccinea leaf extract are due to the presence of flavonoids, tannins and alkaloids which are present in the sample. Phytochemical studies revealed the presence of dia-boline (major alkaloid) and its acetate, triterpenes and sterols in Strychons Potatorum Seeds which are responsible for the hypoglycemic effects of the herb. The major bio active constituents of Gymnema Sylvestre leaves include oleanane type triterpenic Saponins known as gymnenic acids and other valuable phytochemicals which are found to be highly effective against diabetes. There are many valuable phytochemicals found in the Vetivera Zizanoides roots like polyphenols compounds, sterols, flavonoids possessing hypoglycemic effects. The presence of ellagi tannins in amla makes it a valuable medicinal plant for treating diabetes. Our unique formulation includes the right composition of the individual extract for treating diabetics in an efficient manner. Our unique process involves the hydro alcohol extraction of the herbs to recover the active components.
3. DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
The novel hydro alcohol extraction helps to extract recover the flavonoids, sterols, Saponins, glycosides and other active components from all the herbs used. The herbal extract so obtained was properly formulated.
