Specification

Description:FIELD
The present disclosure relates to quarter glasses of vehicles.
BACKGROUND
The background information herein below relates to the present disclosure but is not necessarily prior art.
Quarter glass of a vehicle is an essential component of the vehicle for ensuring the driver’s watch and the safety of the passengers. The quarter glass is adhered to the body of the vehicle with the help of a sealant.
A typical quarter glass includes dot markers configured thereon for facilitating locating of a sealant thereon. However, the space between the dots also ensures seepage of the sealant therefrom, thereby affecting not only the functional aspect of the sealant but also the aesthetics of the glass. Further, it has been observed that water tends to accumulate in and around the sealant, and deteriorates the sealant.
Therefore there is felt a need for a quarter glass which alleviates the aforementioned drawbacks.
OBJECTS
Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfies, are as follows:
An object of the present disclosure is to provide a quarter glass for a vehicle.
Another object of the present disclosure is to provide a quarter glass which prevents seepage of a sealant therethrough.
Yet another object of the present disclosure is to provide a quarter glass which prevents accumulation of water therein.
Other objects and advantages of the present disclosure will be more apparent from the following description, which is not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure.
SUMMARY
The present disclosure envisages a quarter glass for a vehicle. The quarter glass comprises a channel defined by pair of walls configured on an operative inner surface of the quarter glass at a spaced apart distance from each other. The channel is configured to receive a sealant therein. The sealant is configured to facilitate affixment of the quarter glass to the vehicle frame The quarter glass further comprises a notch configured on an outer wall of the pair of walls. The notch is configured to facilitate drainage of water accumulated in the channel therethrough.
In an embodiment, the quarter glass is of polycarbonate.
In one embodiment, the notch is configured on an operative bottom portion of the outer wall.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
Embodiments are provided so as to thoroughly and fully convey the scope of the present disclosure to the person skilled in the art. Numerous details are set forth, relating to specific components, and methods, to provide a complete understanding of embodiments of the present disclosure. It will be apparent to the person skilled in the art that the details provided in the embodiments should not be construed to limit the scope of the present disclosure. In some embodiments, well-known processes, well-known apparatus structures, and well-known techniques are not described in detail.
The terminology used, in the present disclosure, is only for the purpose of explaining a particular embodiment and such terminology shall not be considered to limit the scope of the present disclosure. As used in the present disclosure, the forms “a”, “an” and “the” may be intended to include the plural forms as well, unless the context clearly suggests otherwise. The terms “comprises”, “comprising”, “including”, “includes” and “having” are open-ended transitional phrases and therefore specify the presence of stated features, elements, modules, units and/or components, but do not forbid the presence or addition of one or more other features, elements, components, and/or groups thereof.
Embodiments, of the present disclosure, will now be described with reference to the accompanying drawing.
Figure 1 illustrates a conventional quarter glass 10 and a sealant (not shown in figures) provided thereon for affixing the quarter glass to the vehicle frame (120). A typical quarter glass includes dot markers 15 configured thereon for facilitating locating of the sealant thereon.
A quarter glass (100), of the present disclosure, for a vehicle will now be described in detail with reference to Figure 2 through Figure 4.
The quarter glass (100) comprises a channel (105) defined by pair of walls (107A, 107B) configured on an operative inner surface of the quarter glass (100) at a spaced apart distance from each other. A sealant (110) is configured to be received in said channel (105). The sealant (110) is configured to facilitate affixment of the quarter glass (100) to the vehicle frame (120). The channel (105) ensures that the sealant (110) does not ooze out therefrom, while ensuring that the sealant (110) stays in its desired position throughout its life. A notch (112) is configured on an outer wall (107A) of the pair of walls (107A, 107B). The notch (112) is configured to facilitate drainage of water accumulated in the channel (105) therethrough, thereby avoiding any probability of water stagnation in the channel (105), and thus protecting the sealant (110) from moisture.
In an embodiment, the quarter glass (100) is of polycarbonate.
In another embodiment, the notch (112) is configured on an operative bottom portion of the outer wall (107A). In still another embodiment, the notch (112) is configured such that the outer wall (107A) is inclined towards the notch, thereby enabling drainage of water from the notch (112).
The foregoing description of the embodiments has been provided for purposes of illustration and not intended to limit the scope of the present disclosure. Individual components of a particular embodiment are generally not limited to that particular embodiment, but, are interchangeable. Such variations are not to be regarded as a departure from the present disclosure, and all such modifications are considered to be within the scope of the present disclosure.
