Abstract: A tyre [100] for a vehicle comprising a tread [102], the tread [102] comprising: - at least one wear indicator [104], wherein the at least one wear indicator [104] comprises a light emitting coating [106].
I/We Claim:
1. A tyre [100] for a vehicle comprising a tread [102], the tread [102]
comprising:
- at least one wear indicator [104], wherein the at least one wear indicator
[104] comprises a light emitting coating [106].
2. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 1, wherein the light emitting coating [106] comprises a material selected from phospho-luminescent, fluorescent, radio-luminescent or combinations thereof.
3. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one wear indicator [104] comprises a contact face [108] intended to come into contact with a roadway, when the tyre [100] reaches a predefined wear limit indicative to tyre replacement.
4. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 3, wherein the contact face [108] comprises the light emitting coating [106].
5. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 3, wherein the at least one wear indicator [104] comprises:
- at least one profile element [110] comprising at least two sections, a first
section [112] running in the radial direction of the tyre [100] and a
second section [114] running radially adjacent to the first section [112],
wherein the first section [112] comprises the contact face [108] and the
first and second sections [112,114] having respectively a first and a
second transverse configuration.
6. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 5, wherein the at least one profile element
[110] is provided in form of a cut-out.
7. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 5, wherein the at least one profile element [110] is provided in form of a protrusion.
8. The tyre [100] as claimed in claims 1 to 4, further comprising a plurality of wear indicators [104], preferably, at least six (6).
9. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 8, wherein the plurality of wear indicators [106] is arranged spaced apart from each other along the longitudinal direction of the tread [102].
10. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 5, wherein the first and second transverse configurations of the first and second sections [112,114] comprise the same shape and/or structure.
11. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 5, wherein the first and second transverse configurations of the first and second sections [112,114] comprise different shape and/or structure.
12. The tyre [100] as claimed in claims 5, 10 and/or 11, wherein each of the first and second sections [112, 114] may be configured to form letters, numbers, symbols, lines, curves, V-shapes, polygons and/or combinations thereof.
13. The tyre [100] as claimed in claims 5, wherein the second section [114] running in the radial direction comprises a plurality of elements spaced apart from each other in the longitudinal direction.
14. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 13, wherein the second section [114]
comprises three elements, the first element [114a] has a radial depth d1, the second element [114b] has a radial depth d2, and the third element [114c] has a radial depth d3, such that depths d1d3 relative to the tyre surface of the new tyre [100].
17. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 5, wherein the first transverse configuration of the first section [112] comprises a warning symbol.
18. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 2, wherein the material of the light-emitting coating [106] is selected from the group consisting of copper doped zinc sulfide, copper manganese doped zinc sulfide, tritium-based coating materials, and combinations thereof.
19. The tyre [100] as claimed in claim 1, wherein the at least one wear indicator [104] comprises a multi-planar structure coated with the light emitting coating [106].
20. A method for visually warning drivers for tyre replacement, said method comprising:
- exposing a tyre [100] comprising at least one wear indicator [104] as claimed in claims 1-19, to induce wear thereof,
wherein disappearance of at least a first element [114a] of the at least one
wear indicator [104] from the rolling surface is indicative of at least a first
level of tyre wear;
wherein disappearance of at least a second element [114b] of the at least
one wear indicator [104] from the rolling surface is indicative of at least a
second level of tyre wear; and
wherein appearance of a first section [112] of the at least one wear indicator
[104] on the rolling surface of the tyre [100] is indicative of tyre
replacement.
