NOVEL VIAL HOLDER APPARATUS
FIELD OF THE INVENTION
The present invention relates generally to the containers and dispensers for liquids, more particularly the invention relates to an improved and portable vial holder apparatus for disseminating a proportionate amount of perfume with ease by the user.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION A wide variety of liquid compounds have been created for use by individuals for a variety of purposes. It is beneficial where, for a number of these liquid compounds, it is possible for an individual to carry a small amount of the liquid with them for use as they might move from place to place. Liquids such as fragrances, colognes, breath fresheners, skin cleansers, etc. all benefit from being packaged in such a way that individuals may carry and dispense small quantities of the liquid as needed. Efforts in the past to provide containers and dispensers for perfumes ranging in the size of 2ml – 8 ml that are carried about by the user have generally focused on simply scaling down the dimensions of a regular sized container/dispenser for the perfume. This usually meant that the user had to accommodate carrying the smaller bottle loosely in a purse or pocket. Such containers/dispensers were subject to both being lost or at best inconvenient to access. Perfume is commonly used in enhancing the surrounding aroma in a living or a vehicle environment so as to provide a delightful sense of smell. The most commonly seen perfume is
3
contained in a bottle container, which can be placed on a dressing table or carried in a personal pouch. Perfume and cosmetics are widely used together becoming one of the necessities to express themselves. This fragrance is contained in a bottle, and is used by injection. When perfume is sprayed predetermined time the strength is too weak, it is necessary to be injected again. However, this bottle is relatively large in size is less portable. Further efforts have been made, especially in the area of perfumes and colognes, to provide 2-8 ml perfumes so that consumer can try their products before buying them .However most of these perfumes are small in size and get lost easily by the consumers. There was no convenient place to put them in a purse, pocket, or wallet. Further efforts at creating a container/dispenser that had a more convenient shape (such as might more easily fit into a purse or pocket, failed to provide convenient dispensing systems, relying instead on swab type applicators that often failed to evenly apply the liquid. Currently, conventional personal use perfume to spray perfume; perfume in such use, the need to open the bottle, hand on the pressure button on the body or clothing directly spray perfume atomizer. Its biggest drawback is that the volatile perfume and fragrance lasting time and occasion cannot control, for example, some business people, needs to appear in the daily work and different social occasions, the need for flavor, and what scent for different occasions, can not be achieved easily switch had to be resolved through dress and other ways; to some extent, led to the use of inconvenience; this is undoubtedly the modern fast-paced, and social complexity of the new generation of business people, is not a small prejudice.
4
Despite the aforementioned disadvantages, the present inventors have made a great effort to solve the technical problems of conventional arts, and developed an improved and portable hexagonal shaped vial holder apparatus for disseminating a proportionate amount of perfume in liquid form from a vial with ease by the user. The device allows the consumer to fit the 2-8ml perfumes (vials) in said device which make the overall appearance larger and more stylish. The size of the device is small enough to fit in the consumer’s pocket and large enough to spray properly when placed in the hands of a consumer. Said device is compact and easy to carry within ordinary dress accessories such as purses, wallets, pockets and alike. The dimensions of the device are calibrated in such a way that it is easy for the consumer to hold the perfume and spray it without it slipping or without unease. Said device comprises of an outer body including an opening, said outer body includes an inside wall defining an inner body behaving as a container; a vial disposed in the inside space of the container and a covering and dispensing cap. 10
dispensing cap as depicted in Figure 1. The device can be made of any material but is preferably ABS, and especially one that is transparent or translucent to effect the simulation of a commercially available perfume device. Disposed in a channel or bore in the vial holder is a removable dispensing vial for a perfume sample. Completing the simulation is a top or a cap. When the cap and vial holder are joined together, the device has the appearance, and at least the outline and ornamental appearance, of a commercially available perfume device. Vial holder apparatus may include an exterior and an interior. Although vial holder apparatus is depicted as an elongate element, exterior thereof may have any desired configuration and appearance, the depicted test tube shape merely providing an example. If desired, one or more indicia may be carried by exterior. Interior of vial holder is configured to contain a fluid. Examples of fluid include, but are not limited to, liquids, such perfumes. Also the vial holder apparatus facilitates simple removal of the vial from the holder such that the vial may be replaced when its contents have been used.
The vial holder apparatus may also be designed in variety of other shapes including circular or other related geometrical figures, but the preferred shape is hexagonal.
The removable dispensing vial is placed inside the container in which the perfume sample is housed. Integral with the container is a covering and dispensing cap, preferably a spring-loaded pump type device for dispensing the perfume out of the device.
According to Figure 2 the front view of the outer body of the vial holder, inner body of the vial holder that is the container containing the vial and the cap are depicted or illustrated as a separate
11
entity. The overall height of the vial holder has been calibrated to approximately 86.5 mm with a diameter ranging between 20-30mm, preferably 24 mm. The upper section of the outer body is hexagonal in shape, whereas the lower section is circular in shape. Also the height of the outer body of the vial holder ranges between 40-100 mm, preferably 55 mm and diameter ranging between 20-30 mm, preferably 24 mm. Further the upper section and the lower section of the inner body (container) is hexagonal and circular in shape respectively with an overall height ranging between 40-100 mm, preferably 52.75 mm.
Figure 3 illustrates the partial portion of inside body (container) creates a shoulder profile with the outside body. The inside body or the container is glued at the bottom to the base of the outside body. The cap is snugly fit with the external rib provided on the exposed part of inside body. The container also comprises of upper longitudinal ribs and short longitudinal ribs at the bottom.
Figure 4 illustrates a detailed view of the inner body or the container of the vial holder apparatus, wherein the middle or central section of the container of the device comprises of bumps ranging between 2-6, preferably three in number that assist in fitting of the dispensing vial. Also, below the bumps, three legs are longitudinally arranged at the base of the container , thereby providing flexibility to the vial.
The middle section of the container also comprises of a hole at the bottom surface of the container, wherein said hole provides support to the outer body. As container is configured to have a cap secured thereto, an upper end of container may include an outer peripheral surface which is configured, as known in the art (e.g., with a reduced cross-
12
section and threading, to internally receive a portion of base in a pressure-fit configuration, to be secured to base by way of crimping, pressing, or snapping, with a protruding rib thereon, etc.) to receive and securely retain a base of the cap. Figure 5 illustrates view of a cylindrical section bush arranged at the bottom of the outside body to have larger surface contact or anchoring with the glue and to limit the downward travel of the inside body while assembling. Figure 6 illustrates an axial section through a covering cap which is open at the top and preferably made of the same (or type of) material of which the device is made; for example, both may be plastics, but each may be a different type of plastic. Within the covering cap, the upper end of the perfume container with the delivery device is drawn with thin lines. Said cap also has a slender, hexagonal shape and a diameter, which is only slightly larger than that of the vial holder. The cap is hexagonal in shape with a height of 31.5mm and maximum diameter 24mm. The top of the cap is hexagonal pyramid or a mesh like structure of height 1.5 mm. It may includes a base , a withdrawal tube extending from base, a nozzle associated with and in selective flow communication with withdrawal tube, and a dispenser member, such as a pump acts as a delivery device for pumping perfume from said vial to and out of said nozzle. As another use, a device according to this invention is provided in the same geometry as that of a commercially available bottle of perfume, and the container is provided with the same perfume available commercially, thereby providing a miniature simulation of a commercially available product for use by consumers. Especially with a perfume having a well-known brand name and/or bottle geometry, a user finding such a bottle will have the recognition and appreciation for having received such a perfume, realizing that the article is only a miniature version. Further,
13
providing a quantity of perfume sufficient to fill only a rectilinear dispensing vial, and not the entire volume of a small miniature bottle. Still further, because many commercially available perfumes are sold in rather small bottles, some of which may appear to be a miniature of the same brand sold in a larger size, a simple examination of the bottle presently supplied will distinguish it as a sample rather than a commercial volume of perfume.
