"2 Piece Mixing Chamber For Selecting Catalytic Reduction System In Heavy Duty Vehicle"

Abstract: The present invention discloses a 2-piece mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle comprising a solid tube portion and a perforated tube portion. Here the 2-piece mixing chamber is characterized by its separation into 2 part, thereby easy to clean the box muffler as compared to existing box muffler having welded one-piece mixing chamber. Here the one end of the solid tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber is welded with box muffler and the other end is connected to perforated tube portion. Also, the perforated tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber is mounted to box muffler’s external body through graphite gasket and bolts to effectively control the leak rate of the 2-piece mixing chamber system less than <15 lpm (for complete box muffler). Further 2-piece mixing chamber is configured to engage with box muffler through the nuts and bolts with the graphite gaskets. The present invention also discloses a method of manufacturing said 2-piece mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle thereof.

[001] The present subject matter relates to a 2-piece mixing chamber for the selective catalytic reduction system in the heavy-duty commercial vehicle.
[002] The existing mixing chamber for the selective catalytic reduction System in the heavy-duty commercial vehicle is a one piece transmission system having certain challenges or limitations such as engaging and sealing the mixer inside a box muffler without disturbing the urea & gas flow pattern to make the system a leak-proof system. Another challenge is to clean the box muffler, wherein mixing chamber is a single unit welded from inside of the box muffler. Due to compact nature of conventional box muffler system, it is a challenge to clean the crystallized components including urea from the inside of the mixing chamber of the box muffler of the heavy-duty commercial vehicle.
[003] Therefore, there is an unmet need of 2-piece version of mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle to overcome aforementioned challenges or limitations and also provides a cost effective and efficient mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy duty vehicle.
[004] The present subject matter solves the aforementioned and other problems by providing a 2-piece mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle without compromising on the cost and production of the heavy-duty commercial vehicle and enhance the efficiency of the system thereof.
[005] The present subject matter relates to a 2-piece mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle. The 2-piece mixing chamber has a distinct advantage of ability to clean the mixer, wherein service person can take out the mixer by removing the bolts and clean & refit the mixer using a new gasket. In this way we can avoid scrapping the whole box muffler assembly. The 2-piece mixing chamber is a component of box muffler. As the 2-piece mixing chamber is separable in 2 part, it is easy to clean the box muffler as compared to box muffler having welded one-piece mixing chamber. Also, it is easy and convenient to clean the mixer and to clean the hydraulics tube through access
window. Thereby removal & servicing/ replacement of mixer becomes very easy. Hence increase the performance & serviceability of the box muffler including 2-piece mixing chamber of the heavy-duty commercial vehicle.
[006] The 2-piece version of mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle comprising a solid tube portion and a perforated tube portion. The first end of the solid tube portion is welded with box muffler and the second end is connected to perforated tube portion. The perforated tube portion is mounted to box muffler external body through graphite gasket and bolts to effectively control the leak rate of the system. This 2-piece mixing chamber of the box muffler for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle, control the external leakage <15 lpm (for complete box muffler).
[007] The design and specification of 2-piece mixing chamber is suitable for complete cleaning of unwanted materials from the selective reduction mixer chamber simply by removing the mixer, which is mounted using the nuts and bolts with the graphite gaskets.
[008] The advantage of 2-piece mixing chamber is a periodic inspection and cleaning 2-piece mixing chamber. The added advantage is to clean the mixing chamber through access window. Thereby there would be minimal chances of replacement and scrapping of complete box muffler.
[009] To illustrate the 2-piece mixing chamber in more details herein below:
[0010] The 2-piece mixing chamber for selective chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle comprising a solid tube portion and a perforated tube portion. The solid tube portion may interchangeably with a term solid tube and perforated tube portion may interchangeably with a term perforated tube. The one end of the solid tube is configured to be engaged with box muffler and other end is configured to be engaged with perforated tube. The perforated tube is mounted to box muffler’s external body through graphite gasket and bolts to effectively control the leak rate 4
of the system. This 2-piece mixing chamber of the box muffler for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle, control the external leakage <15 lpm (for complete box muffler).
[0011] The configuration of the 2-piece mixing chamber is suitable for complete cleaning of unwanted materials from the selective reduction mixer chamber simply by removing the mixer, which is mounted using the nuts and bolts with the graphite gaskets. Thereby there would be a minimal chance of replacement and scrapping of complete box muffler.

[0014] Further one end of the solid tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber is welded with box muffler and the other end is connected to perforated tube portion. Also one end of the perforated tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber is connected to solid tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber and configured to mounted to box muffler’s external body through graphite gasket and 5
bolts to effectively control the leak rate of the 2-piece mixing chamber system below <15 lpm (for complete box muffler).
[0015] In another embodiment, the 2-piece mixing chamber is configured to engage with box muffler through the nuts and bolts with the graphite gaskets.
[0016] The present subject matter also discloses a method of manufacturing of a 2-piece mixing chamber for selective chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle comprising a solid tube portion and a perforated tube portion, wherein configuring 2-piece mixing chamber into two separate chambers for easy and quick cleaning of the box muffler as compared to existing box muffler having welded one-piece mixing chamber.
[0017] Further one end of the solid tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber is welded with box muffler and the other end is connected to perforated tube portion. Also one end of the perforated tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber is connected to solid tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber and configured to mounted to box muffler’s external body through graphite gasket and bolts to effectively control the leak rate of the 2-piece mixing chamber system below <15 lpm (for complete box muffler).
[0018] In another embodiment, the 2-piece mixing chamber is configured to engage with box muffler through the nuts and bolts with the graphite gaskets.
[0019] In another embodiment, the present subject matter discloses an operation of the present system; wherein urea Mixing Chamber called urea mixer is a two-piece design to facilitates easy removal of mixer from box muffler and at the same time, it prevent any possibility of the leakage of the system. The conception of Design involves making the mixer into two pieces without affecting the flow dynamics of gases and urea.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF ILLUSTRATIVE EMBODIMENTS
[0025] The present disclosure relates generally to a 2-piece mixing chamber 100 for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle in FIG.1. The 2-piece mixing chamber 100 for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle comprising a solid tube portion 102 and a perforated tube portion 104. The solid tube portion 102 may interchangeably termed as solid tube 102 and perforated tube portion 104 may interchangeably termed as perforated tube 104. The one end of the solid tube 102 is configured to be engaged with box muffler 100 and another end is configured to be engaged with perforated tube 104. The perforated tube 104 is mounted to box muffler 100 external body through graphite gasket and bolts to effectively control the leak rate of the system. This 2-piece mixing chamber of the box muffler for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle, control the external leakage <15 lpm (for complete box muffler).

[0026] In FIG.2 discloses the sectional view of the 2-piece mixing chamber 200. The 2-piece mixing chamber 200 comprising for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle comprising a solid tube portion 202 and a perforated tube portion 204. The one end of the solid tube 202 is configured to be engaged with box muffler 200 and the other end is configured to be engaged with perforated tube 204. The perforated tube 204 is mounted to box muffler’s 200 external body through graphite gasket and bolts to effectively control the leak rate of the system. This 2-piece mixing chamber 200 of the box muffler for the heavy- duty commercial vehicle is to control the external leakage <15 lpm (for complete box muffler).

[0028] It would become abundantly clear to a person in the art, after reading this specification that the present subject matter also provides a 2-piece mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle comprising a solid tube portion and a perforated tube portion. More specifically, the present subject matter discloses the 2-piece mixing chamber comprising a solid tube portion and a perforated tube portion, without the assistance or intervention of a tool or a technician and without departing from the spirit of the present subject matter. While the subject matter may be susceptible to various modifications and alternative forms, specific embodiments have been shown by way of example in the drawings and have been described herein. Alternate embodiments or modifications may be practiced without departing from the spirit of the present subject matter. The drawings shown are schematic drawings and may not be to the scale. 1) A 2-piece mixing chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle comprising a solid tube portion and a perforated tube portion; wherein 2-piece mixing chamber is characterized by separable into 2 part independently, thereby easy to clean the box muffler as compared to existing box muffler having welded one-piece mixing chamber.
2) The 2-piece mixing chamber as claimed in claim 1, wherein said 2-piece mixing chamber is a component of box muffler.
3) The solid tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber as claimed in claim 1, wherein the one end of the solid tube portion is welded with box muffler and the other end is connected to perforated tube portion.
4) The perforated tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber as claimed in claim 1, wherein the perforated tube portion of the 2-piece mixing chamber is mounted to box muffler’s external body through graphite gasket and bolts to effectively control the leak rate of the 2-piece mixing chamber system.
5) The 2-piece mixing chamber as claimed in claim 1, wherein said 2-piece mixing chamber control the external leakage <15 lpm (for complete box muffler).
6) The 2-piece mixing chamber as claimed in claim 1, wherein said 2-piece mixing chamber is configured to engage with box muffler through the nuts and bolts with the graphite gaskets.
7) A method of manufacturing of a 2-piece mixing chamber for selective chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle as claimed in claim 1 comprising a solid tube portion and a perforated tube portion, wherein configuring 2-piece mixing chamber into two separate chambers for easy and quick cleaning of the box muffler as compared to existing box muffler having welded one-piece mixing chamber.
8) The method of manufacturing of 2-piece mixing chamber for selective chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle as claimed in claim 7, wherein the one end of the solid tube is configured to be engaged with box muffler and other end is configured to be engaged with perforated tube.
9) The method of manufacturing of 2-piece mixing chamber for selective chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle as claimed in claim 7, wherein the perforated tube is mounted to box muffler’s external body through graphite gasket and bolts to effectively control the leak rate of the 2-piece mixing chamber system below <15 lpm (for complete box muffler).
10) The method of manufacturing of 2-piece mixing chamber for selective chamber for selective catalytic reduction system for the heavy-duty commercial vehicle as claimed in claim 7, wherein said 2-piece mixing chamber is configured to engage with box muffler through the nuts and bolts with the graphite gaskets.
