Abstract: Biomass derived bio-syngas, i.e., mixture of carbon mono-oxide (CO), hydrogen (H2), methane (CH4), is renewable in nature and can be produced by gasification of waste woody biomass. Presently, the bio-syngas is used directly for power generation and thermal application. The invention is related to development of integrated mechanical system for production and cleaning of raw bio-syngas, compression of bio-syngas, and its storage at high pressure in gas cylinders. Claims are made for a downdraft type biomass gasifier containing biomass stirrer device for shaking of biomass within the reactor while in operation, Internal water jacket at drying zone of gasifier, Glass window as flame viewer cum ignition port, Screw conveyor mechanism at bottom of the gasifier for ash removal while gasifier is in operation, bio-syngas cleaning system with water scrubber and dry filter, Nylon balloon as buffer bio-syngas storage system and use of high pressure bio-syngas compressor for storage of compressed bio-syngas in gas cylinders. This invention introduces the compression and storage of bio-syngas in gas cylinders, so that compressed bio-syngas can be utilized in decentralized way.
