A Scanning And Inspection Device For A Shell Structure And A Method Thereof

Abstract: Described herein is a scanning and inspection device [100] for a shell structure [140] and a method [200] thereof. The scanning and inspection device [100] comprises: at least three pairs of telescopic legs [102] radially connected to a centre holder [104]; at least three wheelbase assemblies [108] connected to the at least three pairs of telescopic legs [102]; and a dedicated suspension system [110] resiliently connecting each of the at least three pairs of telescopic legs [102] to each of the at least three wheelbase assemblies [108]. Notably, the at least three pairs of telescopic legs [102], in tandem with the dedicated suspension system [110] and a dedicated linear actuation system [116], is adapted to secure the scanning and inspection device [100] at each of a plurality of longitudinal locations within the shell structure [140], to thereby perform each of the plurality of circumferential scanning and inspection cycles.
