Abstract: Apparatus and method of detecting defects in a manufacturing process are disclosed herein. The apparatus obtains real-time values pertaining to each of a plurality of quality attributes for components at various production stages. Each value is tagged with a timestamp and component identifier. Using the values, variation plot is generated for each of the plurality of quality attributes based on the real-time values, which indicates real-time variation in the quality attribute in the manufacturing process. These plots are continually monitored against multiple upper and lower control limits. If any quality attribute continuously or intermittently breaches one or more than one control limit of the upper or lower control limits, the apparatus identifies these abnormalities as indicative of potential defects in the manufacturing process. Upon detection of the possible defects, the apparatus may generate the real-time alerts to enable timely interventions and ensure consistent product quality.
