Abstract: This disclosure provides systems, methods and apparatuses for reducing voltage stress on an insulation of a cordless appliance. In appliances that receive wireless power, the voltage and frequency of the power can be higher than traditional wired power. The higher voltage and frequency can put additional stress on insulation in the appliance. The insulation separates a power reception circuit and a load from other metallic components of the appliance. The voltage stress on the insulation can be reduced by connecting the metallic components to an artificial ground. The artificial ground can be formed using balanced electrical characteristics of the power reception circuit. In one example approach, the artificial ground is formed at a tap point in a bridge circuit of the power reception circuit, such as between a pair of approximately equal capacitors in the bridge circuit or between overlapping power reception coils.
