Abstract: Provided are steel having excellent laser cutting properties and a method of manufacturing same. The steel of the present invention having excellent laser cutting properties comprises, by weight %, 0.15-0.30% of carbon (C), 0.1-0.5% of silicon (Si), 1.5% or less of manganese (Mn) (not including 0), 0.5% or less of molybdenum (Mo) (not including 0), 0.05% or less of phosphorous (P) (not including 0), 0.01% or less of sulfur (S) (not including 0), 0.05% or less of aluminum (Al) (not including 0), and the remainder being Fe and other unavoidable impurities, satisfies relative expression 1, and has a surface scale layer having the thickness of 30? or less.
