Method For Ammonolysis Of Bromoalkanoic Acids

Abstract: The invention relates mainly to a method for producing ?-aminoalkanoic acid of formula NH2-(CH2)n-COOH, in which n is an integer between 9 and 11, by reacting the corresponding ?-bromoalkanoic acid with ammonia, comprising the following steps: i) reacting the ?-bromoalkanoic acid with an aqueous solution of excess ammonia, and ii) separating the ?-aminoalkanoic acid that is formed from the reaction mixture, characterised in that the aqueous solution of ammonia has a concentration of 35 to 70 wt% and in that step i) is carried out at a pressure higher than atmospheric pressure, between 0.11 and 2.0 MPa absolute pressure.
