Abstract: Determination of soil shear strength often becomes challenging, for instance, due to the unavoidable disturbance during sampling (soft soils, cohesionless soils). In such circumstances, recorded failure parameters us rather unreliable. The present patent suggests a new method for the determination of the soils shear strength by using the called "Cylindrical Shear Tool". The proposed tool consists of a thin cylindrical tube subjected to a uniform displacement to penetrate the soil vertically up to the failure phase. Hence, it follows a specific method of determination of shear strength parameters.
