Abstract: Described herein is a home care detergent concentrate comprising, a blend of surfactants and an emollient. The home care detergent as described is an anhydrous concentrate.
Description:ield of Invention:
The current invention is in field of home care detergents. More particularly, the current invention relates to home care detergent concentrate, which is easy to transport.
Background of Invention:
Home care essentially encompasses all the activities which are necessary to keep the house and the people living in the house hale-and-hearty. These activities, generally involve, but not limited to, washing clothes, washing dishes and other utensils, maintaining clean floors and walls, and the like.
Modern household, generally, rely on a whole gamut of detergents which are required for maintaining general cleanliness of the surfaces and the objects which are in contact with humans of the house.
Detergents are generally a composition of one or more surfactants, a perfume and other ingredients depending on the intended use, which may include colouring agents, bleaching agents, etc. The Modern definition of these products are aqueous solution of different surfactants mixture, combined with other specific materials whose function is to increase foam, stabilization and homogenise the formulation, provide the right viscosity and having disinfectant property.
Further, said detergents are considerably harsh on the user’s skin, as the chemicals that make up the detergent have an inherent desiccating property, thereby drying up the resident moisture of skin, leaving the skin rough and scaly. One attempt at alleviating this drying of skin is discussed in US20100197553. The detergent as disclosed in US ‘553 consists of at least one surfactant and at least one humectant.
Traditionally, these detergents are stored in bulky containers, generally made of various plastics. Said bulky containers may comprise of bottles, sachets, etc. As these bottles cannot be generally reused, they are scrapped. This scrapping adds to plastic scrap which has already been plaguing the earth.
Furthermore, as mentioned above, the currently available detergents are aqueous solutions that are not easily transportable, because of the bulky containers which contain said detergent and also due to the spilling risk that is involved in transportation of liquids. Additionally, also due to reasons as stated earlier, a user cannot effectively carry the detergent on a trip.
Hence, the probable solution is to reduce the bulk of the detergent, thereby reducing the size of the container required to transport the detergent.
One such attempt was made by Jiashi Tarng, et al in their US Patent ? US8895492. Per US ‘492, the invention discloses a dilutable aqueous liquid cleaning composition containing at least one anionic surfactant, at least one divalent metal salt and water. However, US ‘492 does not particularly mention or suggest incorporation of any skin protectant or a emollient.
Therefore, in keeping with the current research going on in this filed, the current inventors hereby propose a novel detergent concentrate.
Objects of Invention:
Therefore, it is the primary object of invention to provide a detergent composition which can be easily transported.
In second object, the invention intends to provide a detergent composition which is safe to skin, that is, it does not make the skin dry and rough.
In yet another object, the invention intends to provide a composition which reduces the environmental impact of bulky containers.
Summary of Invention:
In view of above objects, the current invention provides a novel anhydrous detergent concentrate.
The anhydrous detergent concentrate can be stored or packed in small sachets which are easy to transport and, as such, reduces environmental impact from the bulky, one time use bottles used for containing traditional detergents.
The detergent concentrate of the invention further comprises an emollient, which prevents drying and roughening of skin.
Detailed Description of Invention:
In order to provide a clear and consistent understanding of the terms used in the present specification, a number of definitions are provided below. Moreover, unless defined otherwise, all technical and scientific terms as used herein have the same meaning as commonly understood to one of ordinary skill in the art to which this invention pertains.
The use of the word “a” or “an” when used in conjunction with the term “comprising” in the claims and/or the specification may not only mean “one”, but also encompasses the meaning of “one or more”, “at least one”, and “one or more than one”. Similarly, the word “another” may mean at least a second or more.
As used in this specification and claim(s), the words “comprising” (and any form of comprising, such as “comprise” and “comprises”), “having” (and any form of having, such as “have” and “has”), “including” (and any form of including, such as “include” and “includes”) or “containing” (and any form of containing, such as “contain” and “contains”), are inclusive or open-ended and do not exclude additional, unrecited elements or process steps.
Described herein is a novel detergent composition which is devoid of water, thereby can be termed as an anhydrous detergent concentrate. Said detergent concentrate further comprises an emollient which prevents drying and roughening of skin.
