Abstract: ABSTRACT SEAT BELT PERSUADER The present invention provides a seat belt persuader for displaying the importance of wearing a seat belt (9) while traveling in a car. It gives a live demonstration of the impact of a collision on passengers wearing a seatbelt and not wearing a seat belt. A dummy (8) is placed on one seat (7) of the trolley (1) without fastening the seat belt and another dummy / human is seated on the other seat of the trolley and fastened with the seat belt. When the trolley slides at a speed of 8 kmph and crashes with the impact absorbent plate (4), the dummy without the seat belt is thrown out of the trolley while the dummy / human with the seat belt fastened, although feels the impact, remains seated due to the fastened seat belt.
Description:? BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION:
It is widely known that a seat belt can minimize the injuries to the driver in
case of a vehicle crash. The traffic law requires the driver to wear a seat belt.
However, unfortunately there are still some people who do not fully
appreciate the importance of the seat belt and fail to wear the seat belt when
traveling in a car. The role of the car seat belt is to ensure passenger and driver
safety, when the vehicle crashes and the bodies of the driver and passenger
would have been thrown out of the car if they weren’t strapped to the car’s
seat with the help of a seat belt.
In India, approximately 1.5 Lac people die in a year in road accidents due to
non-wearing of seat belts. According to statistics from MORTH (Ministry of
Road Transport & Highways) 16873 people died in road accidents in the year
2017 due to non-wearing of seat belts. Serious injuries and fatalities in the
accidents can be decreased, if the driver wears the seat belt. Drivers are
unaware about the importance of seat belts and its functionality. Therefore,
they do not prefer to fasten the seat belts and they risk the life of all passengers
unintentionally.
Due to the improvement of the car seat belt performance requirements, testing
is becoming an increasingly complex and onerous task. To meet the
requirements of a safe car, bands, grades need to pull dynamic tests and
durability tests, the test needs to have seat belts, fake chest modal auxiliary
test. Fake chest belt auxiliary test model is the model replica of the human
breast shape and weight, whose main role is to meet the car seat belt
according to the actual job requirements, to ensure the authenticity and
accuracy of the test.
A number of seat belt testing mechanisms are available in the prior art.
CN104215461 describes a mounting device for use in seat-belt pretensioner
feature test which comprises a simulation B-pillar, a simulation fastener, a
rigid seat, a footboard and a sliding table. The simulation B-pillar, the
simulation fastener, the rigid seat and the footboard are all fixed on the sliding table at positions in correspondence to those in a real car. The simulation B- pillar is provided with a D-ring mounting hole, a retractor mounting hole and an anchor mounting hole used for mounting a seat-belt. The simulation
fastener is provided with a fastener mounting hole. The D-ring mounting
hole, the retractor mounting hole, the anchor mounting hole and the fastener
mounting hole correspond to those of the real car in position. The mounting
device allows different seat-belts to be mounted conveniently and reliably,
and a reliable test environment is provided for the seat-belt pretensioner
feature test.
CN106153321 discusses a testing and displaying seat in which the bottom of
a seating part and the rear of a backrest are provided with stiffeners, the
stiffeners are integrally connected with a seat body through bolts running
through via holes of the seat body, and a base is fixedly connected with
bottom stiffening tubes of the seating part. When tied to the testing and
displaying seat, a child safety seat comes in connection with the stiffeners
and the base to form a metal frame; the seat body acts to only support an
automobile backseat, when the seat body bears force, the force is completely
conducted to the stiffening tubes through a safety belt, ISOFIX interface and
an upper pull hook; the testing and displaying seat has all functions of a
common displaying seat and may also be used to test strength of the child
safety seat.
CN206161325 provides a dummy’s thigh joint fixed knot of car security test
constructs wherein the end cover sets up on dummy's thigh joint, is equipped
with the concave station on the end cover, fastening screw installs in the
concave station, and fastening screw and dummy's body fixed connection are
passed through to dummy's thigh joint, and fastening screw's nut is located
the concave station, the degree of depth that highly is less than the concave
station of fastening screw's nut, and when being safety belt dynamic test,
dummy's thigh joint side end cover, screw rod, nut can not take place to
extrude or direct contact with seat belt lock or mesh belt.
CN207423648 discloses a safety belt fixed point strength test device, holds
the installation face that carrier seat has installation car seat including holding
carrier seat and mount, and the mount is connected on the installation face to
be located the one side of holding carrier seat, car seat connects on the
installation face that holds carrier seat, and car seat's back is connected on the
mount, still is equipped with the fixed part that is used for connecting the
safety belt coiler on the mount. The utility model discloses a safety belt fixed
point strength test device can carry out the intensity of car seat and safety belt
fast and verify to can satisfy the verification requirement of car seat and safety belt, save development period, improve test efficiency, and replace the white
automobile body of experimental usefulness, it is extravagant to have saved
the white automobile body that causes because of duplicate test, has reduced
development cost.

their security are available in the prior art, none of these disclosures provide
some arrangement or model which displays the practicality and functionality
of the seat belt and the consequences occurring by not wearing seat belts. A
few videos and advertisements are available which spread seat belt
awareness, their importance and urge people to wear seat belts, but their
impact is short lived. The seat belt convincer although tries to give the driver
the real impact of a car crash at low speed, is a single seater device due to
which the impact on the passenger sitting in the front cannot be experienced
and has a low inclination due to which very less impact is felt and impact
without a seat belt cannot be displayed. Hence a mechanism which displays the impact due to accidents on straight as well as inclined structures, which
demonstrates the impact of a crash when driving without wearing a seatbelt
(by using a dummy) and which also displays the impact of a crash on the
passenger (another dummy) sitting beside the driver, is the need of the day.
? OBJECT OF THE INVENTION:
The main object of the present invention is to provide a seat belt persuader
that persuades the driver and passengers of a car to wear a seat belt by
demonstrating the impact of collision when not using the seat belt.
Another object of the present invention is to display the importance of seat
belts thereby preventing passengers from being thrown out of the car during
collision due to impact.Still another object of the present invention is to
provide a seat belt persuader that gives practical demonstration of the
functionality of seat belts.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a seat belt persuader
that spreads seat belt awareness to the public.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a seat belt persuader
with inclination and straight mode for showing proper effect during both
types of collision.
A further object of the present invention is to provide a seat belt persuader
which demonstrates the effect of the collision on both the driver and the
passenger seated beside the driver one with seat belt and another without seat
belt.
A yet further object of the present invention is to provide a seat belt persuader
to induce increased vehicular seat belt usage without inhibiting essential
operational capability of the vehicle.
Yet another object of the present invention is to provide a seat belt persuader
which shows the benefits of airbags which are released when there is a
collision and protects the driver from banging hard against the steering wheel.
? SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
The present invention describes a seat belt persuader which is a dual seat
persuader with straight and inclination structure in which on one seat is seated
a dummy (mannequin) without a seat belt and on the other seat is seated
another dummy (mannequin) or human with a seat belt. The seats are
mounted on a trolley which is locked on a sliding rail. Upon unlocking, the
trolley slides on the sliding rail at the speed of 8 kmph and crashes with the
impact absorbent plate. Due to the impact, the dummy without the seat belt
gets thrown away while the human or dummy with the seat belt remains
securely seated due to wearing of the seat belt. This demonstration persuades
the on-looker to always wear the seat belt while driving or sitting beside the
driver.
? BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS:

? DETAILED DESCRIPTION:
The nature of the invention and the manner in which it is performed is clearly described in the specification. The invention has various components and
they are clearly described in the following pages of the complete
specification.
Accidents are common nowadays, most of which are caused due to
negligence on the part of the driver and the passenger of the vehicle. One of
the most common neglected attributes by a driver or passenger is non-wearing
a seatbelt. Drivers and passengers knowingly or unknowingly refrain from
wearing a seat belt due to which during collisions, they are thrown out of the
vehicle and are seriously injured or die immediately.
The present invention provides a seat belt persuader which gives live
demonstration to the public regarding the impacts of traveling in a vehicle
with or without a seat belt. Fig. 1 gives the side view of the seat belt persuader
while fig. 2 gives the front view of the seat belt persuader. It is a dual seat
persuader, as shown in fig. 3 with straight or inclination structure of seat belt
in which a dummy (mannequin) is placed on one seat without the seat belt
and another dummy (mannequin) or human is placed/seated fastened on the
other seat with the seat belt. Both the seats slide together
and crash with a speed of 8 km/hr on the impact absorbent plate. The dummy
without the seat belt is thrown away while the dummy / human with the seat
belt remains safely seated because of the fastened seat belt.
The various components of the present invention are as follows:
1. Trolley – The trolley (1) is mounted with 2 or 4 seats and the trolley with
the participants, slides on the sliding rail (3).
2. Trolley lock – The trolley lock (2) is used to lock the trolley when
stationary which is released when the model is used for demonstration of
collision impact.
3. Sliding rail – The sliding rail (3) is the path on which the trolley (1) with
its occupants, slides.
4. Impact absorbent plate – The trolley, after sliding on the sliding rail at a
speed of 8 kmph, crashes with the impact absorbent plate (4).
5. Electric motor – An electric motor (5) is used to reverse back the trolley
(1) to its starting position.
6. Pulling cable – Pulling cable (6) helps in reversing the trolley (1) back to
its starting position.
7. 2/4 Seats – 2/4 seats (7) are provided in the trolley (1) for dummies (8)
and/or humans to take part in the demonstration.
8. Dummies – 1/2 dummies (8) are placed in the trolley (1) for practically
demonstrating the impact of a collision.
9. Seat belts – Seat belts (9) are installed in both straight and inclined
positions on all the seats for protection of the seated dummy/human.
The seat belt persuader of the present invention demonstrates the importance
of wearing the seat belt in the following manner:
(i) Initially the trolley (1) with 2 seats (7) is fastened with the trolley lock
(2) at the stationary position.
(ii) A dummy (8) is seated without a seat belt (9) in one of the seats (7)
and a human / another dummy (8) with seat belt (9) fastened, in both
straight and inclined positions, is seated on the other seat (7).
(iii) After confirming the properly fastened seat belt (9), the trolley
lock (2) is released and the trolley (1) slides on the sliding rail (3) at a
speed of 8 kmph and crashes with the impact absorbent plate (4).
(iv) Due to the impact the dummy (8) without the seat belt (9) is
thrown out of the trolley (1) while the dummy (8) / human with the
seat belt (9) remains seated.
(v) The seated dummy (8) / human is taken away / walks away after
removing the seat belt (9).
(vi) The trolley (1) is brought back to its original (stationary)
position by the electric motor (5) with the help of the pulling cable (6)
which parts are displayed in Fig. 4.
This demonstration effectively conveys the message to the observers and the
participants that non-wearing of seat belt throws the person out of the seat
during collisions while proper fastening of a seat belt secures the person on
the seat during collisions. The trolley can be equipped with 4 seats instead of
2 seats to demonstrate the impact of collisions to more people at a time.
The mode of operation of the seat belt persuader is described by taking two
different examples.
1) In the first example the seat belt persuader, consisting of a dual seat
persuader with straight and incline structure of seat belt, has a dummy
(mannequin) without seat belt in one seat and human with seat belt in the
other seat. Both the seats slide and crash at a speed of 8 kmph. By this impact,
the dummy without a seat belt is thrown out and the human with a seat belt
is safe on the seat because the seat belt was fastened.
2) In the second example the seat belt persuader comprises a dual seat
persuader with straight and incline structure of seat belt, has dummy
(mannequin) without seat belt in one seat and dummy (mannequin) with seat
belt in the other seat. Both the seats slide and crash at a speed of 8 kmph. By
this impact, the dummy without a seat belt is thrown out and the dummy with
a seat belt is safe on the seat because the seat belt was fastened. The present
invention is highly advantageous because using a practical method it easily
demonstrates the importance of wearing a seat belt while traveling in a car
because the dummy without the seat belt gets thrown away and the human or
dummy with seat belt feels the impact and is safe on the seat. It shows the
practical functionality and importance of wearing the seat belt.
Although the preferred embodiment as well as the construction and use have
been specifically described, it should be understood that variations in the
preferred embodiment could be achieved by a person skilled in the art without
departing from the spirit of the invention. The invention has been described
with reference to specific embodiments which are merely illustrative and not
intended to limit the scope of the invention as defined in the claims. , Claims:I/We claim,
1. A seat belt persuader which effectively demonstrates to the people the
impacts of collision in a vehicle while traveling with or without seat belt
wherein the seat belt persuader comprises of the following components:
(i) trolley (1) on which seats are mounted and which slides on the sliding
rail;
(ii)trolley lock (2) which locks the trolley when it is stationary at the
starting position and is released when the trolley with its occupants are
ready to slide down the sliding rail;
(iii) sliding rail (3) which is the path on which the trolley with its
occupants slides;
(iv) impact absorbent plate (4) which is the component where the
trolley crashes after sliding down on the sliding rail at 8 kmph speed;
(v) electric motor (5) which reverses back the trolley to its starting
position;
(vi) pulling cable (6) which helps in reversing back the trolley to its
starting position;
(vii) seats (7), which are usually 2 in number, which are placed
inside the trolley for seating and practically demonstrating the impact
of a collision;
(viii) dummies (8) which are placed on the seats of the trolley for
practically demonstrating the impact of a collision; and
(ix) seat belts (9) which are installed in both straight or inclined
positions on all the seats for protection of the dummy/human during
the collision.
2. The seat belt persuader as claimed in claim 1 wherein the method for
demonstrating the importance of wearing seat belt while traveling
involves the following steps:
(i) fastening the trolley (1) with the two seats (7) with the trolley lock
(2) at the stationary position;
(ii) placing the dummy (8) without a seat belt (9) in one of the seats
(7) and a human / another dummy (8) with the seat belt (9)
fastened, in both straight and inclined positions, on the other seat
(7); and
(iii) properly fastening the seat belt (9) on the human / another dummy
(8) with the seat belt and releasing the trolley lock (2) due to which
the trolley (1) slides on the sliding rail (3) at a speed of 8 kmph and
crashes with the impact absorbent plate (4).
3. The seat belt persuader as claimed in claim 2 wherein after the collision,
the dummy (8) without the seat belt (9) gets thrown out of the trolley (1)
due to the impact while the dummy (8) / human with the seat belt (9) feels
the impact but is secured on the seat (7) due to the fastened seat belt (9)
and is disembarked from the trolley (1).
4. The seat belt persuader as claimed in claim 3 wherein after the
disembarkation, the trolley (1) is brought back to its original position by
the electric motor (5) with the help of the pulling cable (6).
5. The seat belt persuader as claimed in claim 1 wherein the number of seats
(7) in the trolley (1) can be increased to 4 to demonstrate the impact of
collision to more people at a time.
