A Belt Dryer With Spike Rolls And Multi Layer Controlled Air Distribution System.

Abstract: The invention relates to A BELT DRYER WITH SPIKE ROLLS AND CONTROLLED AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM useful for industries having a continuous and uninterrupted supply for even drying of numerous products including agro-commodities, spices, cattle-feed, vegetables, fruits, food products and many such products in a simple, efficient and fast manner. The process is continuous as the material is continuously fed into the drying chamber with the help of controlled feeder. The material travelling through the belt with the help of head pulley and tail pulley is overturned with the help of specially designed spike rolls. After passing through the belt (n numbers) the dried material comes out of the drying chamber through rotary air lock. The hot air generated from the heat exchanger or hot air generator is supplied through a main ducting to the distribution ducting to internal ducting which controls the required temperature at each layer of belt using valves. The doctor blade and screw conveyors are provided in the tail pulley for the removal of the dust and the unwanted foreign particles out through the exit door. The air quantity supply derivations, heat requirements and retention time are derived for the multiple free flow agro commodities like considering its typical nature for the desired output for industrial application.

Specification

Description:The material is continuously supplied into the hopper (1) and the stored material in the hopper is continuously fed into the drying chamber (5) with the help of controlled feeder (2). The material feed inside the dryer slides on the sloper (3) in a layer and travels through the porous belt (4). The number of the belts may be increased up to n numbers as per the requirement resulting in the better output of the product and fuel efficiency. There is a presence of side skirting (13) on the side of each layer of belt which restricts the escape of air from one belt to another from the sides and thus ensuring controlled temperature in each belt. The material traveling through the belt (4) with the help of head pulley (6) and tail pulley (7) is overturned with the help of specially designed spike rollers with spikes or horizontal bars (8) so that the material comes in contact of the hot air blown ensuring maximum output. The multiple decks (MD) are provided as per the requirement one below the other in the dryer to ensure overturning and maximum exposure of air over the material surface. After passing through the belt (4) (n numbers) the dried material comes out of the drying chamber through rotary air lock (9).
The hot air generated from the heat exchanger or hot air generator (A) is supplied through a main ducting (B) to the distribution ducting (C). The damper valves (D) are provided after the distribution ducting (C) to maintain the air volume and the flow of the hot air in the internal ducting (E) located inside the drying chamber (5). The hot air comes in contact with the material passing through the porous belt (4) in the perpendicular direction. The exhaust damper valves (G) are provided at the top of the drying chamber (5) which exhausts a certain amount of the hot air with moisture and sets it free in the environment.
The remaining hot air is recycled from the top of the drying chamber through recirculation ducting (F). The hot air is re circulated though this ducting to the blower and there is a provision of using this air after it mixes with the fresh hot air supply described earlier to directly inject on the belt as per the requirement in a controlled way to ensure the fast drying of the material controlling the temperature in each belt with the help of valves.
The doctor blade and screw conveyors (10) are provided in the tail pulley (7) for the removal of the dust and the unwanted foreign particles out through the exit door (12). The electrical control panel board (11) controls,
1. Feeder speed to control the quantity of material at the input,
2. Belt speed to maintain desired retention time of material inside the drying chamber,
3. The input hot air temperature and indicates air temperature at the outlet of the dryer.
4. The drying temperature of the drying chamber.
, Claims:1. A BELT DRYER WITH SPIKE ROLLS AND MULTI LAYER CONTROLLED AIR DISTRIBUTION SYSTEM designed for even and uniform drying and for continuous and uninterrupted supply of the multiple free flow agro commodities for a desired output comprising of :-
• A hopper (1) and the stored material in the hopper is continuously fed into the drying chamber (5) with the help of controlled feeder (2). The material travels from the sloper (3) through the belt (4) which has side skirting (13) with the help of head pulley (6) and tail pulley (7) is overturned with the help of specially designed spike rollers with spikes or horizontal bars (8). After passing through the belt (4) (n numbers) the dried material comes out of the drying chamber through rotary air lock (9).
• The hot air generated from the heat exchanger or hot air generator (A) is supplied through a main ducting (B) to the distribution ducting (C). The damper valves (D) are provided after the distribution ducting (C) to maintain the air velocity and the flow of the hot air in the internal ducting (E) for air distribution located inside the drying chamber (5).
