Abstract: The present disclosure relates to a storage assembly (100) for a vehicle. The storage assembly (100) comprises a housing defining a storage space for accommodating one or more articles. The storage assembly (100) further comprises a lid (102) locked to the housing in a locked state, where a first engaging element (106) is configured to be arranged on or in the lid (102). Further, the storage assembly (100) comprises a handle (104) that includes a second engaging element (108), which is pivotably coupled to the lid (102) and configured to move from a first position to a second position to unlock the lid (102) from the housing. The first engaging element (106) of the lid (102) is adapted to engage with the second engaging element (108) of the handle (104) when the handle (104) is in the first position.

[0001] The present disclosure relates to the field of storage assemblies. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a simple, easy-to-use, and aesthetically pleasing storage assembly for vehicles, which restricts the sagging of a handle and facilitates perfect and unobstructed fitting of the handle in the groove provided on a lid of the storage assembly.

[0003] Traditional storage boxes often have a handle hingedly connected to the lid, enabling users to conveniently open and close the box. The outer surface of the lid is further provided with a groove or cut-out section to accommodate the handle in a locked position when the lid is to be kept locked. However, existing designs may suffer from a sagging effect in the handle over time, resulting in imperfect fits within the groove. This can lead to an uneven gap between the handle and the groove, creating difficulties in securely positioning the handle in the groove, potentially compromising the integrity of the storage box and its contents.
[0004] There is therefore a need to overcome the above drawbacks, limitations, and shortcomings associated with existing storage boxes and provide a simple, easy-to-use, and aesthetically pleasing storage assembly for vehicles, which restricts sagging of the handle and facilitates perfect and unobstructed fitting of the handle in the groove provided on the lid of the storage assembly.

OBJECTS OF THE PRESENT DISCLOSURE
[0005] Some of the objects of the present disclosure, which at least one embodiment herein satisfies are as listed herein below.
[0006] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a simple, easy-to-use, and aesthetically pleasing storage assembly for vehicles, which restricts the sagging of a pivotable handle associated with a lid of the storage assembly.
[0007] It is an object of the present disclosure to provide a simple, easy-to-use, and aesthetically pleasing assembly for vehicles, which restricts the sagging of a pivotable handle associated with a panel of an enclosure of a vehicle.

SUMMARY
[0008] The present disclosure relates to the field of storage assemblies. More particularly, the present disclosure relates to a simple, easy-to-use, and aesthetically pleasing storage assembly for a vehicle, which restricts the sagging of the handle and facilitates perfect and unobstructed fitting of the handle in the groove adapted to be provided on the lid of the storage assembly.
[0009] An aspect of the present disclosure pertains to a storage assembly. The storage assembly may comprise a housing defining a storage space for accommodating one or more articles. The storage assembly may further comprise a lid locked to the housing in a locked state. A first engaging element can be configured to be arranged on or in the lid. Particularly, in an aspect, the lid may comprise a base plate comprising the first engaging element. The base plate may be installed in or on an inner surface of the lid. Furthermore, in another aspect, the first engaging element may be directly installed in or on an inner surface the lid (without any base plate being installed in or on the lid).
[0010] Further, the storage assembly may comprise a handle that may comprise a second engaging element, which may be configured to be pivotably coupled to the lid and configured to move from a first position to a second position to unlock the lid from the housing. The first engaging element may be adapted to engage with the second engaging element of the handle when the handle is in the first position.
[0011] In an aspect, the first engaging element may be a rib of a first predefined profile and the second engaging element may be a slot having a second predefined profile complementary to the first predefined profile of the rib.
[0012] In an aspect, the first predefined profile may preferably be of trapezoidal shape. However, the first predefined profile may also be of any suitable shape for example a conical shape, rectangular shape, or curved shape adapted to be engaged with the second predefined profile.
[0013] In an aspect, an outer surface of the lid or the base plate of the lid may comprise a groove adapted to securely accommodate a gripping portion of the handle therein in the first position. The engagement of the first engaging element with the second engaging element in the first position, may restrict the sagging of the handle and facilitate the uninterrupted movement of the handle within and out of the groove. More particular, in an implementation when the handle is pivoted or biased towards the first position from the second position, the handle may smoothly regain its first position within the groove thanks to be the first engaging element and second engaging element.
[0014] In an aspect, a pair of third engaging portions may be configured to be arranged on or in the lid (mainly on or in an inner surface of the lid), which may be adapted to pivotally accommodate a coupling portion at one end of the handle. The coupling portion of the handle may be pivotally connected to the third engaging elements and a biasing element is arranged for biasing the handle towards the first position. More particularly, in an aspect, the lid may comprise a base plate comprising a pair of the third engaging elements adapted to pivotally accommodate a coupling portion of the handle. The base plate may be configured to be attached to an inner surface of the lid. In another aspect, an inner surface the lid comprises pair of the third engaging elements adapted to pivotally accommodate a coupling portion at one end of the handle.
[0015] For better understanding, the outer surface is a visible portion of the lid from the vehicle interior and is opposite to the inner surface of the lid (non-visible surface from the vehicle interior).

The assembly may comprise a rib or a slot of a first predefined profile configured to be arranged in or on the panel and a slot or a rib configured with the handle. The slot may have a second predefined profile complementary to the first predefined profile. The handle may be pivotally connected to the panel and an outer surface of the panel may comprise a groove adapted to accommodate a gripping portion of the handle in a first position. Wherein, the handle is pivotable from the first position to a second position to unlock the panel from the enclosure. The rib may be adapted to engage with the slot when the handle is in the first position.
[0020] In an aspect, the panel may be a lid of a storage assembly or a door assembly of a body in white (BIW) of the vehicle. In an aspect, the rib is of a trapezoidal shape. In another embodiment, the rib is a conical shape, rectangular shape, curved shape or of any other shape adapted to be engaged with the slot of second predefined profile.
[0021] In an aspect, the panel may comprise a base plate comprising the rib or the slot, wherein the base plate may be configured to be attached to an inner surface of the panel. In another aspect, an inner surface of the panel may comprise the rib or the slot adapted to be engaged with the slot or the rib of the handle.

The storage assembly comprise a lid locked to the housing in a locked state. Further, the storage assembly can include a handle that includes a second engaging element, which can be pivotably coupled to the lid and configured to move from a first position to a second position to unlock the lid from the housing. The assembly can include a rib or a slot of a first predefined profile configured to be arranged in or on the panel, and a slot or a rib configured with the handle. The handle can be pivotally connected to the panel and an outer surface of the panel can include a groove adapted to accommodate a gripping portion of the handle in a first position where the handle is pivotable from the first position to a second position to unlock the panel from the enclosure. The rib can be adapted to engage with the slot when the handle is in the first position.

[0049] Referring to FIGs. 1A to 4B, in an embodiment, exemplary view(s) of the proposed storage assembly 100 is illustrated. The storage assembly 100 can include a housing (now shown) defining a storage space for accommodating one or more articles. The housing can include at least one open side to allow the placement of articles within the storage space. The storage assembly can further include a lid 102 movably connected to the open side of the housing. The lid 102 can be configured to be moved between a locked state where the lid remains locked on the open side of the housing to secure the storage space, and an unlocked state where at least a portion of the lid at least partially moves away from the open side of the housing to provide access to the storage space.
[0050] In an embodiment, the housing can be configured to be fixedly or removably attached to a trim panel or frame associated with a vehicle. In other embodiments, the housing can also be an integral unit of a trim panel of the vehicle with the trim panel defining the shape of the storage assembly and the lid being movably connected to the open side of the trim panel.
[0051] The storage assembly 100 can further include a handle 104 pivotally configured to be coupled to the lid 102. Referring to FIG. 3, the handle 104 can include a coupling portion 104-2 that can be configured to be pivotally connected to an inner surface 102-2 or an interior side 102-2 (towards the storage space of housing) of the lid 102 as shown in FIG. 1D. Further, the handle 104 can include a gripping portion 104-1 that remains accessible on an outer surface 102-1 or the outer side 102-1 of the lid 102 as shown in FIGs.1A and 1C. Further, referring to FIGs. 1B and 1C, in an embodiment, the lid 102 can include a cut-out section that allows insertion and pivotal connection of the coupling portion 104-2 on the inner surface 102-2 of the lid 102, while the gripping portion 104-1 remains outside as shown in FIG. 1A. The handle 104 can be configured to be pivotally moved between a first position and a second position to unlock the lid 102 from the housing.
[0052] In an embodiment as shown in Fig 1D, 2, 3, 4A, and 4B, the lid 102 of the storage assembly 100 can include a base plate 120 comprising the first engaging element 106, and a pair of third engaging elements 112 can be configured to pivotally accommodate two ends 114, 116 of the coupling portions 104-2 of the handle 104, where the base plate 120 can be configured to be attached to the inner surface 102-2 of the lid 102. The coupling portion 104-2 of the handle 104 can be pivotally connected to the third engaging elements 112 of the base plate 120 and a biasing element 118 can be arranged on the coupling portion 104-2 of the handle 104 (as shown in figure 4A and 4B) for biasing the handle 104 towards the first position upon removal of an external pull force from the handle 104 which is used for unlocking the lid 102 from the housing. The base plate 120 can also include a cut-out section 122 and a groove 110 as shown in FIG. 2 that allows insertion and pivotal connection of the coupling portion 104-2 on the inner surface 102-2 of the base plate 120 of the lid 102, while the gripping portion 104-1 remains outside. As illustrated, the base plate 120 can include one or more holes 124 to facilitate coupling of the base plate 120 to the inner surface 102-2 of the lid 102 using one or more fasteners/locators 126 refer to FIG. 1D, however, the base plate 120 can also be glued or welded to the inner surface 102-2 of the lid 102.
[0053] In another embodiment (not shown), a first surface (on the outer visible surface from the vehicle interior) of the lid can include a slot and groove, wherein the groove can be adapted or profiled to securely accommodate the gripping portion of the handle therein when the handle is in the first position. Further, the lid 102 can include a first engaging element attached to or extending from a second surface opposite to the first surface (on the interior side) of the lid. The handle (at the coupling portion) can include a second engaging element. In addition, the lid can include a pair of third engaging portions attached to the second surface or extending from the second surface of the lid. The pair of third engaging portions can be configured to pivotally accommodate two ends of the coupling portion of the handle. In an embodiment, the first engaging element of the lid can be at a mid-point between the pair of third engaging elements. The coupling portion of the handle can be pivotally connected to the third engaging elements of the lid and a biasing element including but not limited to a spring can be arranged such that biasing element can enable biasing of the handle towards the first position upon removal of an external pull force from the handle.
[0054] In an embodiment, the first engaging element 106 of the base plate 120 or the lid 102 can be a rib 106 of a first predefined profile and the second engaging element 108 of the handle 104 can be a slot 108 having a second predefined profile complementary to the first predefined profile of the rib 106, such that the rib (first engaging element) 106 of the base plate 120 or the lid 102 can engage with the slot (second engaging element) 108 of the handle 104 when the handle 104 is in the first position. This engagement of the rib 106 and slot 108 restricts the sagging effect in the handle 104, specifically the gripping portion 104-1, in the first position, thereby facilitating the perfect and unobstructed fitting of the handle 104 in the groove 110 provided on the base plate 120 or the lid 102. In an exemplary embodiment, the first predefined profile can be selected from a group comprising but not limited to a conical shape, trapezoidal shape, curved shape, and rectangular shape.
[0055] In another embodiment, (not shown) the second engaging element of the handle 104 can be a rib of a first predefined profile, and the first engaging element of the base plate 120 or the lid 102 can be a slot having a second predefined profile complementary to the first predefined profile of the rib, such that the rib (second engaging element) of the handle 104 can engage with the slot (first engaging element) of the base plate 120 or the lid 102 when the handle 104 is in the first position. Thereby, restricting the sagging effect in the handle 104 and facilitating the perfect and unobstructed fitting of the handle 104 in the groove 110 provided on the lid 102.
[0056] In an exemplary embodiment, one end of the lid 102 can be hingedly or pivotally coupled to the housing (at the rim of the open side), such that the free end of the lid 102 can move be locked and unlocked with respect to the rim of the open side. The storage assembly can further include a locking mechanism comprising a locking structure at any of the free end(s) of the lid 102, which can be adapted to be locked to the housing or the rim of the open side. Further, the locking mechanism can include a disengaging portion configured with the handle 104 and/or lid 102, which upon actuation of the handle 104 can disengage the locking structure or the free end of the lid 102 from the housing, thereby allowing movement of the lid 102 for accessing the storage space of the storage assembly 100. In an implementation, upon movement of the gripping portion 104-1 of the handle 104 from the first position (in the groove 110) to the second portion (out of or away from the groove 110) by pulling the gripping portion 104-1 by a user, the disengaging portion can get actuated and correspondingly disengage the locking structure of the lid 102 from the housing, thereby allowing movement of the lid. Further, upon releasing the gripping portion of the handle 104 it moves from the second position (out of or away from the groove) to the first portion (into or towards the groove) due to the biasing element 118, thus correspondingly allowing the locking structure to lock with the housing in the locked state. Moreover, the movement of the handle 104 towards the first position can cause the engagement of the rib 106 of the base plate 120 or the lid 102 and the slot 108 of the handle 104, thereby restricting the sagging effect in the gripping portion 104-1 and facilitating the perfect fitting of the gripping portion 104-1 of the handle 104 in the groove 110 with even gap between the groove 110 and outer rim of the gripping portion 104-1 of the handle 104.
[0057] Those skilled in the art would appreciate that while various embodiments and drawings of the present disclosure have been elaborated for a storage assembly, however, the teachings of the present disclosure are equally applicable for door assemblies having a pivotable handle, and all such embodiments are well within the scope of the present disclosure.
[0058] Further, it would be obvious to a person skilled in the art that while various embodiments and drawings of the proposed assembly have been described with the handle in a horizontal orientation in the groove of the lid, however, in another embodiment, the orientation of the handle and other components of the storage assembly can be changed to other orientations as well, and all such embodiments and implementations are well within the scope of the present disclosure.

The door assembly can include a door panel locked to a frame associated with the vehicle in a locked state. The door panel can include a first engaging element. Further, the door assembly can include a handle including a second engaging element. The handle can be pivotably coupled to the door panel and configured to move from a first position to a second position to move the door panel from the locked state to an unlocked state. The first engaging element of the door panel can be adapted to engage with the second engaging element of the handle when the handle is in the first position.
[0061] In yet another aspect, the present disclosure elaborates upon an assembly for restricting the sagging of a pivotable handle associated with a panel being locked to an enclosure. The assembly can include a rib of a first predefined profile configured to be arranged on the panel and a slot configured with the handle. The slot can have a second predefined profile complementary to the first predefined profile. The handle can be pivotally connected to the panel and an outer surface of the panel can include a groove adapted to accommodate a gripping portion of the handle in a first position wherein the handle is pivotable from the first position to a second position to unlock the panel from the enclosure. The rib of the panel can be adapted to engage with the slot of the handle when the handle is in the first position.

ADVANTAGES OF THE INVENTION

, Claims:1. A storage assembly (100) comprising:
a housing defining a storage space for accommodating one or more articles;
a lid (102) locked to the housing in a locked state, wherein a first engaging element (106) is configured to be arranged on or in the lid (102); and
a handle (104) comprising a second engaging element (108), the handle (104) being pivotably coupled to the lid (102) and configured to move from a first position to a second position to unlock the lid (102) from the housing;
wherein the first engaging element (106) of the lid (102) is adapted to engage with the second engaging element (108) of the handle (104) when the handle (104) is in the first position.
2. The storage assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the first engaging element (106) is a rib (106) of a first predefined profile and the second engaging element (108) is a slot (108) having a second predefined profile complementary to the first predefined profile of the rib (106).
3. The storage assembly (100) as claimed in claim 2, wherein the first predefined profile is a conical shape, trapezoidal shape, curved shape, rectangular shape, or any suitable shaped adapted to engage with the second predefined profile.
4. The storage assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein an outer surface (102-1) of the lid (102) comprises a groove (110) adapted to securely accommodate a gripping portion (104-1) of the handle (104) therein in the first position, wherein engagement of the first engaging element (106) with the second engaging element (108) in the first position, restricts sagging of the handle (104).
5. The storage assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the lid (102) comprises a base plate (120) comprising the first engaging element (106), wherein the base plate (120) is configured to be attached to an inner surface of the lid (102).
6. The storage assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein a pair of third engaging portions (112) is configured to be arranged on or in the lid (102), which is adapted to pivotally accommodate a coupling portion (104-2) at one end of the handle (104), wherein the coupling portion (104-2) of the handle (104) is pivotally connected to the third engaging elements (112) and a biasing element (118) is arranged for biasing the handle (104) towards the first position upon removal of an external pull force from the handle (104).
7. The storage assembly (100) as claimed in claim 6, wherein the first engaging element (106) is at a mid-point between the pair of third engaging elements (112).
8. The storage assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the second engaging element is a rib of a first predefined profile and the first engaging element is a slot having a second predefined profile complementary to the first predefined profile of the rib.
9. The storage assembly (100) as claimed in claim 1, wherein the storage assembly (100) is a glove box arranged on a dashboard of the vehicle.
10. An assembly for restricting sagging of a pivotable handle associated with a panel being locked to an enclosure of a vehicle, the assembly comprising:
a rib or a slot of a first predefined profile configured to be arranged in or on the panel; and
a slot or a rib configured with the handle, the slot or rib having a second predefined profile complementary to the first predefined profile, wherein the handle is pivotally connected to the panel and an outer surface of the panel comprises a groove adapted to accommodate a gripping portion of the handle in a first position, wherein the handle is pivotable from the first position to a second position to unlock the panel from the enclosure,
wherein the ribs are adapted to engage with the slot when the handle is in the first position.
11. The assembly as claimed in claim 10, wherein the panel is a lid of a storage assembly or a door assembly of a body in white of the vehicle.
12. The assembly as claimed in claim 10, wherein the rib is a conical shape, trapezoidal shape, curved shape, or any suitable shaped adapted to engage with the slot.
13. The assembly as claimed in claim 10, wherein the assembly comprises a base plate comprising the rib or the slot, wherein the base plate is configured to be attached to an inner surface of the panel.
14. The assembly as claimed in claim 10, wherein a pair of third engaging portions is configured to be arranged on or in the panel adapted to pivotally accommodate a coupling portion at one end of the handle, wherein the coupling portion of the handle is pivotally connected to the third engaging elements and a biasing element is arranged for biasing the handle towards the first position upon removal of an external pull force from the handle.
15. The assembly as claimed in claims 13 and 14, wherein the rib or the slot of the panel or base plate is at a mid-point between the pair of third engaging elements.
