Abstract: A system 100 to secure a casing 102 includes one or more slots 104 configured with the one or more snap lock profile 106 of the casing 102, in one or more geometrical shapes; and when mounting of the casing 102 is carried out on a bracket of a body including snap fitting, one or more slots 104 remains free to be engaged by one or more flexible latching for additional security to the casing 104 on the bracket 108. The flexible latching is selected at least one from a tie band, a cable tie, a tie belt, an insulated metal clit, and a similar means. The flexible latching provides additional security to the casing 102 and eliminates vibration like a rattling sound, caused due to operation of the parts mounted inside the casing 102 or the motion of the body.
Description:TECHNICAL FIELD
[0001] The present disclosure relates generally to the technical field of component mounting. In particular, it pertains to a snap lock profile with tie band locking provisions for PCB-based components to remove unwanted sound between the components and the body, and for easy maintenance activities.
BACKGROUND
[0002] Vehicles housed for many small PCB-based components with mating connector components like power window controllers, lighting panels, etc. are installed. To meet cost-efficiency and reduce the overall weight of the vehicle, these casings are made with plastic and composite material. Fasteners for fastening these casings are avoided due to the development of cracks in the casing caused by excessive vibration while moving the vehicle.
[0003] Furthermore, connectors used with these components are SRS connectors which have their drawbacks like the female part requires high insertion force for the male part for mating vis-à-vis removal of the male part during servicing. However, this may be solved by splitting the connector into two or three segment lines according to the uses of different connectors' pins like power pins, RF signals, audio/video signals, etc.
[0004] Also, serviceability issues, increase in takt time, unwanted sound due to vibration, etc. Therefore, it is common to provide a system for such casings to prevent the development of cracks producing rattling sounds between the casing and a mounting bracket.
[0005] There is, therefore, a need to provide a simple, effective, and cost-effective system that does not require any power for their embodiment and avoids the above-mentioned problems.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION

DETAILED DESCRIPTION
[0023] The following is a detailed description of embodiments of the disclosure depicted in the accompanying drawings. The embodiments are in such detail as to clearly communicate the disclosure. However, the amount of detail offered is not intended to limit the anticipated variations of embodiments; on the contrary, the intention is to cover all modifications, equivalents, and alternatives falling within the spirit and scope of the present disclosure as defined by the appended claims.
[0024] Embodiments explained herein relate generally to the technical field of component mountings. In particular, it pertains to a snap lock profile with tie band locking provisions for PCB-based components to remove unwanted sound between the components and the body and for easy maintenance activities.
[0025] In an embodiment, the disclosure is about a system to secure a casing includes one or more slots configured with the one or more snap lock profile of the casing, in one or more geometrical shape; and when mounting of the casing is carried out on a bracket of a body including snap fitting, one or more slots remains free to be engaged by one or more flexible latching for an additional security to the casing on the bracket. The latching is selected at least one from a tie band and an insulated metal clit. The latching provides additional security to the casing and eliminates vibration like a rattling sound, caused due to operation of the parts mounted inside the casing or the motion of the body.
[0026] Referring to FIG. 1 where a prior art as a power window controller device with casing 102 used in a vehicle depicting a common snap lock 106 is shown. Casing 102 of the power window controller device includes one or more snap lock profile 106 of casing 102. The snap lock 106, when engaged with the female part of a bracket (not shown) gets locked to secure the power window controller device on the bracket which is further mounted on the vehicle. The power window controller device also has a hole (not shown) for securing the power window controller device with a metal fastener.
[0027] In an aspect, though the fastener leaves no gap between the casing 102 and the bracket, but a gap is left between the casing 102 and the bracket at the snap lock. This allows vibration between the casing 102 and the bracket causing a rattling sound and leading to a crack in the casing 102 and/or in the bracket.
[0028] FIG. 2A illustrates an exemplary isometric view 200 of the casing 102 of the power window controller device having snap lock 106 with disclosed slot 104. The disclosed system 100 to secure a casing 102 includes one or more slots 104 configured with the one or more snap lock profile 106 of casing 102.
[0029] In an embodiment, the one or more slots 104 are configured in one or more geometrical shapes based on the size and the place of mounting of the casing 102 and the bracket.
[0030] In an embodiment, when mounting of the casing 102 is carried out on a bracket of a body including snap fitting, one or more slots 104 are left free. The slots can be engaged by one or more flexible latching for additional security to the casing 104 on the bracket.
[0031] In an embodiment, the one or more latching is selected at least one from a tie band 302 (refer FIG. 3), a cable tie, a tie belt, an insulated metal clit, and a similar means. However, in most of the cases, a PVC tie band 302 of various dimensions is used to secure casing 102 with the bracket. The tie band 302 once fixed and locked, after ensuring no gap between the casing and the bracket.
[0032] In an embodiment, the flexible latching 302, once locked, provides additional security to casing 102 and eliminates vibration caused due to operation of the parts mounted inside casing 102 or the motion of the vehicle.
[0033] In an embodiment, the use of one or more slots 104 to secure the casing 102 on the profile 108 can be with one or more fasteners or without fasteners, as one or more snap lock in multiple points on the casing 102 and the one or more tie band locking with no gap is sufficient to secure the casing 102.
[0034] FIG. 2B illustrates an exemplary rear view of the power window controller device of FIG. 2A showing the mounting of the casing 102 on a bracket 108. The rear view depicts the locking position of the snap lock 106 on bracket 108 and leaving space for slot 104 for using the flexible latching 302. One or more such snap lock 106 with slots 104 can be configured with a casing 102 for using latching 302.
[0035] In an embodiment, a hole 202 is used for securing casing 102 on the body of the vehicle through fastening bolt provision keeping bracket 108 in between.
[0036] FIG. 3 illustrates an exemplary locked view of a free latching 302 in particular; the tie band used for locking the casing 102 with a bracket 108 through the disclosed slot 104. The tie band 302 (the latching and the tie band are interchangeably used hereinafter) used in the disclosure is made of PVC material that can be rolled. Tie band 302 includes a strip 304 configured with a plurality of teeth 306 on the strip with a pointed structure 308 at one end and a closed structure at the other end 310 configured with a protruding structure 312.
[0037] In an embodiment, for locking the components with bracket 108, the pointed structure 308 of tie band 302 is passed through the hole 202 and bracket 108 and then through the closed structure 310 and pulled till tightened leaving no gap between the component and the bracket 108. And then locked using one of the teeth 306 and the protruding end 312 configured with the closed structure 310.
[0038] Thus, the present disclosure provides a simple, effective, and cost-effective solution for preventing unwanted vibrations between bracket 108 and casing 102 resembling a rattling sound for PCB-based components.
[0039] Additionally, the coupling between the male and female connectors needs to be coupled and decouple in many instances during maintenance. It is observed that due to one or more reasons, many times coupling and decoupling require extra force than normal resulting in damage to the casing 102 and the connectors. The present disclosure has eliminated this by firmly securing casing 102 with the body providing ease of working.
[0040] While the foregoing describes various embodiments of the invention, other and further embodiments of the invention may be devised without departing from the basic scope thereof. The scope of the invention is determined by the claims that follow. The invention is not limited to the described embodiments, versions or examples, which are included to enable a person having ordinary skill in the art to make and use the invention when combined with information and knowledge available to the person having ordinary skill in the art.
