Specification

Description:Field of Invention:
The invention is in the field of personal care products. More particularly, the current invention relates to a liquid body wash, which has soap like feeling.

Background of the Invention:
Personal care is essential for a healthy and clean body. Personal hygiene is an unavoidable part of grooming habits. To take complete care of your body the necessity of personal care products came into the spotlight.

Currently, Personal care products available in markets are lotions, hair dyes, hair care products, lipsticks, creams, deodorants, bath soaps, liquid soaps, shampoos, detergents, sunscreens, fragrances etc.

The body wash, conventionally, available in the market are surfactant and soap-based body washes with pure individual multiple fatty acids.

For instance, US2089305 discloses a liquid soap having a high percentage of fatty acids without certain undesired characteristics. Further, the liquid soap comprises a combination of potassium soap of an unsaturated soap forming acid and potassium methyl adipinate.

Other disclosure could be found in IN279097. The disclosure discusses a liquid soap containing blend of C12-C18 fatty acids. The formulation further comprises a co-solvent, emollient or occlusive oil (e.g., polar oils or non-polar oils such as mineral oil or petrolatum); enhancing agent, makeup agent, antimicrobial agent and/or hydrophobic agent.

IN239931 discloses a detergent composition comprising lauric acid soap, Zinc oxide and a clay.

However, the cited prior arts appear to use metal salts of single fatty acid as soap. The use of single soaping agent has a specific disadvantage of rendering skin dry.

It has been found that in contrast to single fatty acid use of mixed fatty acids is more favourable. Even so, this advantage has not been sufficiently explored by the inventors.

Object of the Invention:
Therefore, it is object of the current invention to develop a novel body wash which uses mixed fatty acids in a single raw material that is distilled.

Another object of the invention is to provide a process for manufacturing the body wash with mixed fatty acid.

Summary of Invention
In an aspect, the present invention provides a body wash based on mixed fatty acids.

The body wash is dispensed as a thick liquid when used with the pump bottle comes out as foam.

The body wash is used as a thick liquid, which has the same feeling of soap while applying on body.

Detailed Description of the Invention:
Described herein is a personal care product which is liquid when used with the pump product and comes out as foam. The said liquid can be used as a thick liquid having same feeling of soap while using, particularly Hand Wash, Body Wash and Face Wash, for purpose of this specification Hand Wash, Body Wash and Face Wash are collectively referred to as “body wash”.

Soap feel is essential to consumer as it reduces the consumption of water as compared to surfactant based product, which tends to consume more water, due to its high moisturization effect.

In an embodiment, the body wash of the invention contains Distilled fatty acids, saturated & unsaturated fatty acids. It also comprises Anionic/Non-ionic/Amphoteric surfactant as single category surfactant or used in combination thereof, an emollient/Humectant, a thickener/rheology modifier. In accordance with this embodiment the body wash can be formulated in thick viscous liquid.

The body wash may further contain effective amount of Anionic/Non-ionic/Amphoteric surfactant, as single category surfactant or combinations thereof Thickeners, chelating agents and preservatives or antimicrobial agent.

In an embodiment, the body wash of the invention uses Distilled fatty acids of Palm, Palm kernel, Palmate, Rice brain, Coconut oil, Sunflower oil, Soyabean oil Sesame Oil, or many more edible or non-edible oils. The said distilled fatty acids are easily saponified to form soap. The above oils were sourced commercially from vendors.

In one of the embodiments, body wash of the invention is made with a CONTINUUM of fatty acid discrete chain length, which is selected from laurates, myristate and palmitates. As typically these are formulated using specific chain length fatty acids (DISCRETE chain lengths). CONTINUUM in the chain length starting from Caprylic C8 to higher chain length unsaturated which are Oleic and Linoleic fatty acids could help soap molecules alone or soap + surfactant molecules pack better at interface. Theoretically, soap, when combines with surfactant, works better. As soap cleaning depends on hardness of water and surfactant are mostly independent of hardness water, so the combination works better in hard water.

As each of the fatty acid has specific function, Therefore, the combination provides increased lather, copious foam, creamy foam, stable foam. Further, the mixture of fatty acid increases solubility in water and moisturizing property.

In accordance with above embodiment the composition comprises of a saturated fat, an unsaturated fat and a cis-trans-fatty acid either individually or in combination. Preferably, the fats are oil distilled fatty acids which can be used individually or in combination to produce personal care products, like Hand Wash, Body Wash, and Face Wash.

In preferred embodiment, the body wash of the invention comprises a combination of saturated & unsaturated fatty acid, where saturated fatty acid may range from 7 to 92% and unsaturated fatty acid (Mono & Polyunsaturated) ranging from 2 to 74. It may also comprise of individual saturated, unsaturated and cis-trans-fat as single or in combination with either of them. Cis-Trans-fat may be present in range from 1 to 23%. The carbon chain varies from 8 to 20.

In accordance to the above embodiment, the ratio of saturated to unsaturated fatty acid ranges from 2.0-8:0:1, preferably 2.5 – 8: 1 and more preferably in the range of 2.7- 8.0:1.
