Pressure Regulating Device Integrated With Sensor Used For Cng Automotive Application.

Abstract: ABSTRACT "PRESSURE REGULATING DEVICE INTEGRATED WITH SENSOR USED FOR CNG AUTOMOTIVE APPLICATION" A pressure regulating device (200) for the compressed natural gas fuelled engine is disclosed. The pressure regulating device is configured to prevent the losses of fuel while vehicle is in running condition. In this system, pressure drop of gas is addressed quickly by means sensing the outlet pressure by the pressure sensor. The pressure regulating device (200) is designed to reduce input pressure generally in the range of 10-12 bar in single stage up to the range of 0.5 bar to 3.5 bar at a desired flow rate as per vehicle engine requirement. The pressure regulating device integrated with the pressure sensor is providing a quick signal (without delay) to Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which avoids pressure loss resulting in increased engine performance by supplying the necessary fuel.

The following specification describes the invention.

FIELD OF INVENTION
[0001] The present invention relates to a pressure regulating device and more particularly to the pressure regulating device suitable for two wheelers and three wheelers CNG vehicles.
BACKGROUND OF THE INVENTION
[0002] The compressed natural gas as a fuel in automotive applications gaining popularity due to several advantages. Compressed natural gas is considered good for environment because there are less harmful emissions from compressed natural gas fuelled vehicle engines.
[0003] The pressure regulation is very crucial requirement of compressed natural gas engine. The Fig. 1 shows a pressure reduction system for compressed natural gas air cooled engine disclosed in the prior art.
[0004] The existing pressure regulating system (100) currently being used for Single cylinder air-cooled automotive engines (up to 250 cc) is a complex system to deliver the gas. In the existing- system many parts are involved and thus the system has become complex. Due to the many components in the system, causes a pressure drop that can affect the engine performance while it is running. In addition, excess gas accumulated in pipe lines may lead to gas leakage from multiple joints and cause safety issues.
[0005] Considering the complex structure of existing system, it is not suitable to use for two wheeled vehicles (air-cooled engine) due to the space constraint for packaging. Also due to multiple parts creating issues while installing these parts in two wheeled vehicles.

[0006] Hence there is a requirement of compressed natural gas low pressure regulating device that eliminates aforementioned drawbacks of conventional low pressure regulating system.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION
[0007] The main object of a present invention is to provide a compressed natural gas low pressure regulating device for two wheelers and three wheeler CNG vehicle.
[0008] The another object of the present invention is to provide the pressure regulating device that increases the performance of automotive engine which enhanced due to less pressure drop.
[0009] The another object of the invention is to provide the pressure regulating device that is integrated with pressure sensor and low pressure hose.
[00010] The another object of the invention is to provide the pressure regulating device that is compact in size.
[00011] Yet another object of the invention is to provide the pressure regulating device that is cost effective.
[00012] Yet another object of the invention is to provide the pressure regulating device that minimizes the chances of leakage as number of joints are decreased.
[00013] Yet another object of the invention is to provide the pressure regulating device that minimizes Accumulation of CNG fuel.
BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF THE DRAWINGS
[00014] The accompanying drawings constitute a part of the description and are used to provide further understanding of the present invention. Such accompanying

drawings illustrate the embodiments of the present invention which are used to describe the principles of the present invention together with the description.
[00015] Fig. 1 shows a conventional pressure regulating system disclosed in the prior art;
[00016] Figure 2 shows a perspective view and cross sectional view of a pressure regulating device integrated with sensor in accordance with the preferred embodiment of a present invention.
[00017] Figure 3 shows exploded view of a pressure regulating device integrated with sensor in accordance with the preferred embodiment of a present invention.
DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[00018] As used in the description herein and throughout the claims that follow, the meaning of "a," "an," and "the" includes plural reference unless the context clearly dictates otherwise. Also, as used in the description herein, the meaning of "in" includes "in" and "on" unless the context clearly dictates otherwise.
[00019] If the specification states a component or feature "may", "can", "could", or "might" be included or have a characteristic, that particular component or feature is not required to be included or have the characteristic.
[00020] Exemplary embodiments will now be described more fully hereinafter with reference to the accompanying drawings, in which exemplary embodiments are shown. This disclosure may however, be embodied in many different forms and should not be construed as limited to the embodiments set forth herein.
[00021] Figure 2 provides a perspective view and a cross sectional view of a pressure regulating device integrated with sensor and low pressure hose used for CNG automotive application (200) with a preferred embodiment of a present

invention. The pressure regulating device (200) includes Low-pressure hose (210) having two open ends, one end is coupled with a single stage regulator (220) by means of Clip (210a) and another end is connected to the engine. Single Stage Regulator (220) reduces gas pressure up to the required pressure to run the engine.
[00022] The pressure regulating device (200) is designed to reduce input pressure generally in the range of 10-12 bar in single stage up to the range of 0.5 bar to 3.5 bar at a desired flow rate as per vehicle engine requirement. The pressure regulating device integrated with the pressure sensor is providing a quick signal (without delay) to Electronic Control Unit (ECU) which avoids pressure loss resulting in increased engine performance by supplying the necessary fuel.
[00023] Construction of Inlet port has been made as such it sustains working
pressure up to 10 bar. Single Stage Regulator is balanced by required spring force of spring (220e) and Diaphragm assembly (220f) to achieve desired output with a constant flow rate. In this Single Stage Regulator, Pressure reduces to desired range with spring force by setting Adjusting Screw (220a) fitted on Cover (220b).
[00024] Inlet (220c) & Outlet (220d) ports are- in right angle position to each
other. Pressure Sensor (230) is an integral part of Single Stage Regulator (220) and fitted on Regulator Body (240). Due to compact design the pressure, regulating system (200) provides ease for handling and installation.
[00025] In the above detailed description, reference is made to the accompanying drawings that form a part thereof, however, such description should not be considered as any limitation of scope of the present invention. The structure thus conceived in the present description is susceptible of numerous modifications and variations, all the details may furthermore be replaced with elements having technical equivalence.
