An Inter Axle Propeller Shaft Assembly

Abstract: The invention relates to an inter axle propeller shaft assembly for mining application. Keeping in view the constraints in the space in between the two axles, the mounting interface, the axial movement in propeller shaft and the yokes articulation, a higher capacity Universal Joint is introduced in the Inter Axle propeller shaft which have higher bearing cup diameter and compressed length to get the higher service life in adverse environmental condition. Accordingly, the yokes are provided to suit the higher capacity Universal joint fitment in such a way that it will not affect the constraint parameters. The inter axle shaft comprises a flange yoke connected to a short fork by means of an Universal Joint. The other end of the short fork is connected to the one end of rear housing by rotary welding. The other end of rear housing is connected to the long fork sub assembly which other end connected with the second flange yoke by means of second universal joint. A sliding joint bellow (2f) entirely covers the sealing surface of sliding joint assembly and it is flexible well enough to accommodate the axial movement of the sliding joint. The sliding joint bellow prevents the coal, dust and slurry to come directly in contact with the sealing surface
