Sustainable And Biodegradable Toothbrush

Abstract: The present disclosure provides A composition for making composite material based eco-friendly apparatus. The present invention aims to tackle drawbacks and harmful effects of conventional plastic apparatus/instruments in the environment. Conventional plastic apparatuses such toothbrushes, packaging units like toothpaste tube, water bottles and plastic utensils are typically made from non-biodegradable materials like polypropylene and polyethylene, which can persist in the environment for hundreds of years, contributing to land and marine pollution. By providing a biodegradable alternative, the present invention aims to reduce the environmental footprint of things made from plastics, which are discarded in large quantities globally. The said composition comprises rice husk (RH) with weight of 22.5804%; poly hydroxyalkanoate (PHA) with weight of 10.452 %; poly lactic acid (PLA) with weight of 66.9676 %; the above measured components are blended at temperature 180°C to obtain a mixture which is then compressed into molds having different shapes such as dog-bone-shaped test specimens that are conditioned at 23°C and 50% relative humidity for 40 hours; wherein obtained tensile strength value for RH, PHA and PLA is 0.0425867 kN/mm2.
