Abstract: An ultra-high strength low alloyed hot rolled steel is provided. The ultra-high strength low alloyed hot rolled steel comprises the following composition expressed in weight %: Carbon (C): 0.3% - 0.5%, Manganese (Mn): 1.1% - 2.0%, Chromium (Cr): 0.55-0.65%, Silicon (Si): 0.40%-1.1%, Copper (Cu): 0.10%-0.20%, Aluminium (Al): 0.45-0.55%, Molybdenum (Mo): 0.25%-0.35%, Nickel (Ni): 0.45% - 0.55%, Titanium (Ti): 0.025% - 0.035% and the remaining being substantially iron and incidental impurities. The ultra-high strength low alloyed hot rolled steel comprises a microstructure of 5-15% retained austenite, and 85 -95 % martensite. The ultra-high strength low alloyed hot rolled steel has a tensile strength = 1300 MPa, yield strength = 1100 MPa, and total elongation in range 8% to 20%. A method (100) for manufacturing ultra-high strength low alloyed hot rolled steel strip of the above-mentioned composition is also provided.
