Ribbed Bar With Enhanced Fatigue Life

Abstract: TITLE: “RIBBED BAR WITH ENHANCED FATIGUE LIFE” ABSTRACT A ribbed bar (20) comprising ribbed bar core (3) defined with a bar surface is provided. The 5 bar surface is defined with one or more plain sections (10) extending along a longitudinal axis (2) of the ribbed bar core (3). A plurality of transverse ribs (1) defined along a periphery of the bar surface are helically aligned in a mutually opposite direction and subtended helically along the periphery of the bar surface. One or more of the plurality of transverse ribs (1) being defined with a cross section comprising: a substantially trapezoidal profile, when viewed along a front 10 direction, the substantially trapezoidal profile including a base side (6), a top side (4), and two side surfaces (5). The trapezoidal profile is defined with a varying height and width from a central portion (h1, w1) (7) to towards either ends (h2, w2) (8). Figures 2a and 2b.
