A System For Measuring Vertical Shrinkage Of Coal Cakes In A Coke Oven

Abstract: The present disclosure discloses a system (500) for measuring vertical shrinkage (140) of coal cakes (120) in a coke oven (100). The system includes a housing (220) mounted on a lid (210) of the coke oven. An electromagnetic wave sensor (230) is disposed within the housing. The electromagnetic wave sensor is configured to transmit electromagnetic waves towards the coal cakes and receive a reflected signal from the coal cakes. A processing unit (240) is communicatively coupled to the electromagnetic wave sensor. The processing unit (240) is configured to determine vertical shrinkage (140) of the coal cakes based on a frequency difference between the transmitted electromagnetic waves and the reflected signal received from the coal cakes. The system comprises a wireless signal transmitter (241) communicatively coupled to the processing unit. The wireless signal transmitter (241) transmits vertical shrinkage data for display (250) in a control room (300).
