Abstract: A non-metallic wear pad assembly (10) and method (60) is disclosed which includes a suspension spring (30) fitted on the both sides of a vehicle frame (40) on an axle housing (70) using a spring bracket (50) located at both ends of the suspension spring (30). A non-metallic wear pad (15, 20) is made of injection molding process using a self-lubricant material as a filler to enhance the wear pad (15, 20) bearing and wear behavior. The non-metallic wear pad (15, 20) is mounted between the spring bracket (50) and the suspension spring (30) via a metallic insert (55) added in a plurality of mounting areas (75, 85) on the non-metallic wear pad (15, 20) by insert molding process to improve torque withstanding capability. The non-metallic wear pad (15, 20) with the self-lubricated surface reduces a sliding coefficient of friction and is non-corrosive, light weight and has a low wear rate. FIGURE 1
