Abstract: The present invention describes a collision avoidance system (200) for vehicles. The system (200) comprises one or more sensor units (202) mounted on a vehicle and configured to transmit a signal to a plurality of objects ahead of the vehicle. The system (200) further comprises a controller (204) operatively coupled to the one or more sensor units (202) and configured to identify at least one of frequency information and time information associated with at least one object, among the plurality of objects, based on the signal transmitted to the at least one object. The controller (204) may be configured to calculate a time required by the vehicle to encounter the at least one object based on the identified frequency information, and the identified time information. Furthermore, the controller (204) may be configured to communicate the calculated time with one or more other vehicles behind the vehicle. Figure 1
