Abstract: ABSTRACT A DIGITAL DRIVER’S DISPLAY SYSTEM FOR SPECIAL PURPOSE VEHICLE The present invention relates to a programmable digital driver’s display system that can start special purpose vehicle’s engine by electrically (or) pneumatically (or) combined way with help of a controller and starter-generator motor. It provides ride comfort and easy maneuverability of the driver. It provides user friendly smart interface as it is indigenous programmable digital version controlled by controller. It eliminates four control boxes(Reverse start protection unit, High gear engage protection unit, Tacho-generator, Recovery aggregates control unit) with a compact system integrated in the driver’s panel in compact space. The following specification particularly describes the invention and the manner in which it is to be performed.

FIELD OF INVENTION:
[001] The present invention relates to the field of special purpose vehicle. The present invention in particular relates to a digital driver’s control panel integrated with unique controls for special purpose vehicle.
DESCRIPTION OF THE RELATED ART:
[002] In the big family of military vehicles, military off-road vehicles have the strongest off-road capability, can drive on poor-quality roads or areas and battlefields without roads at all, and can meet the needs of combat.
[003] Although the current multifunctional military vehicles have made progress in terms of cross-country passability, vehicle safety, vehicle handling stability, power economy, etc., the level of informatization is not high.
[004] If the driver needs to look down at the instrument panel in the car while paying close attention to the harsh terrain ahead, accidents will easily occur in case of emergency.
[005] Reference may be made to the following:
[006] Publication No. AU2019100627 relates to a digital display panel is provided. The display panel is adapted to be formed as a vehicle body panel or attached to a vehicle body panel. The display panel can be controlled to display images such as advertising, selected colours or camouflage.
[007] Publication No. CN215752192 discloses a vehicle-mounted display screen turnover mechanism which comprises a display screen and a turnover structure, the turnover mechanism comprises a screen turnover upper seat, a screen turnover lower seat and a damping hinge, and the display screen is fixed on the lower surface of the screen turnover upper seat. And the upper screen overturning seat is arranged above the lower screen overturning seat and is in overturning connection with the lower screen overturning seat through damping hinges on the two sides. The vehicle-mounted display screen turnover mechanism can turn over when the display screen is needed and can be laid flat when the display screen is not needed, the structure is practical and reliable, the overall appearance is attractive, and the safety of a driver is greatly improved.
[008] Publication No. CN202357989 relates to a military vehicle and particularly relates to a multifunctional military vehicle. The military vehicle comprises a vehicle body, a chassis, an engine and electric appliance equipment, wherein a head-up digital display device is arranged on a front windshield of the vehicle body, and the head-up digital display device comprises an information processing unit, an image output unit, an image display device and a control panel. The engine adopts a turbocharging diesel direct injection engine. A grenade launcher is arranged at the top of the vehicle body. The head-up digital display device is arranged on the front windshield of the multifunctional military vehicle, so that external road conditions, images and the like can be easily fused with information of the head-up digital display device together, delay and discomfort caused by fast changes in an external environment between the actions of lowering the head and raising the head and the need of continuously adjusting the focal lengths of the eyes can be reduced, and the fatigue of the eyes can also be reduced. Furthermore, the multifunctional military vehicle adopts the turbocharging diesel direct injection engine so as to have the advantages of strong power, low oil consumption and cleaner emission.
[009] Publication No. KR101999941 relates to an easy-to-remove display device of a rear camera for an armored car and, more specifically, to a display device capable of taking an image through a camera mounted on a military vehicle such as an armored car and securing necessary sight for the driving of the armored car or the conduct of military operations through a display with the image. A rear camera is installed in a vehicle such as an armored car or tank, in which a driver cannot easily see the outside of the vehicle because of the armored part, and an image taken through the rear camera is displayed by a display. Therefore, traffic accidents are prevented, abilities to conduct military operations are improved, and blind spots are removed, so combat capability can be maximized while accidents can be prevented.

[011] Patent No. US8561519 relates to a multi-weapons system comprising: an active defense system (ADS) comprising a mortar launch tube mounted on a support base-plate rotatable 360 degrees; a weapons system comprising a machine gun mounted alongside the active defense system (ADS) on the support base, a motor with mechanism to rotate the support base-plate with the active defense system (ADS) 360 degrees, drive means to adjust the power capacity of the motor between that required for the active defense system and that required for the machine gun, control means to rotate and adjust the elevation of the launch tube and adjust the directional movement of the machine gun, computer and electronic means to automatically rotate and fire the active defense system display and control means to manually operate the machine gun, control means to override the manual operation of the machine gun and prevent its firing when the active defense system is automatically activated.
[012] Publication No. CN212723707 discloses a display console of a simulated rocket mine laying vehicle, and relates to the technical field of military teaching. The display console comprises a control module, a power supply module, a CAN communication module, an indicating lamp display module and a signal input module. The power supply module is connected with the control module, the CAN communication module, the indicating lamp display module and the switch signal input module. The power supply module supplies power to all the modules. The signal input module is connected with the control module and inputsa control signal; the CAN communication module is connected with the control module; the control module is in data communication with external equipment of the display console through the CAN communication module; the indicator light display module is connected with the control module; and the control module controls the indicator light of the indicator light display module to emit light. The rocket mine-laying vehicle training device can help to train the mine-laying process of a rocket mine-laying vehicle, reduce the training cost of students of the rocket mine-laying vehicle, and avoid thesafety problem of direct actual drilling at the same time, thereby reducing the psychological burden of operators and improving the learning efficiency of the students.
[013] IN Publication No. 202321029544 relates to an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) with advanced sensor and navigation systems for autonomous operation. The UGV includes a commercial off-road vehicle platform with electrical actuators, an energy unit, and a sensor unit with cameras and laser scanners. A positioning unit and navigation unit generate optimal routes for the UGV to follow based on environmental data. The UGV can operate remotely and autonomously, making it suitable for hazardous or remote environments. A motion control system detects and avoids obstacles to enhance safety. The energy unit provides both 12 and 24 volts for use with a variety of mission-specific payloads. The UGV's streamlined manufacturing process ensures optimal component integration, while the graphical user interface of the user device allows for intuitive control and monitoring. The UGV can supply power for several hours, and the additional charger uses electricity from an electric socket.
[014] Publication No. KR20010093502 relates to a safety apparatus is provided to prevent accident caused when the driver carelessly starts the motor vehicle at the state where the transmission gear is in an engaged condition. Constitution: A safety apparatus comprises a start key state detection unit for detecting start key state in an electrical signal; a gear position sensor attached to a transmissionequipped with a clutch booster and which detects transmission state of gear in an electrical signal; a microcomputer for receiving signals output from the start key state detection unit and gear position sensor, converting the transmission into a neutral position by operating a shift unit connected to an air tank if the transmission gear is engaged as a first stage or reverse, informing a display unit of a current stage and starting an engine by operating a start motor installed in the engine, and outputting error codes to the display unit upon occurrence of error including cases where the transmission gear is not shifted to the neutral position even after completion of such control operation; and a the display unit for displaying error codes in accordance with the control of the microcomputer.

The information display system may comprise an information display configured to display an energy recovered indicator corresponding to a ratio of the braking energy recovered using a regenerative braking system. The information display may include both an overall energy recovered indicator and an instantaneous energy recovered indicator.
[016] Publication No. US9008369 relates to a vehicular vision system includes a forward facing camera at a windshield of a vehicle with a forward field of view through the vehicle windshield. The camera is operable to capture image data for a plurality of driver assistance systems of the vehicle. Responsive to processing by an image processor of captured image data, a lane of a road along which the vehicle is traveling is determined and an oncoming vehicle approaching the vehicle is detected, and the vision system determines whether a detected oncoming vehicle is in a lane to the right of the determined lane along which the vehicle is traveling or is in a lane to the left of the determined lane along which the vehicle is traveling. The at least three driver assistance systems of the vehicle includes a lane departure warning system of the vehicle and at least another driver assistance system.
[017] Publication No. CN113688277 provides a voice content display method, device and system and a vehicle, and the method comprises the steps: obtaining voice information, and converting the voice information into target content which comprises at least one of characters, pictures and videos; detecting current gear information of the vehicle; when the gear information is the parking gear, displaying the target content on the display interface of the vehicle, wherein no matter whether the current display interface has the content in the display state or not, the target content is displayed only when the gear information is detected to be the parking gear, and the parking gear indicates that the current vehicle is in the safe state, therefore, the driving safety of the driver can be better ensured.
[018] Publication No. CN112009307 provides a voice prompt method and a voice prompt system of a vehicle and the vehicle. The voice prompt method of the vehicle comprises the following steps: acquiring the residual electric quantity of a battery according to a preset time interval; comparing the residual electric quantity with a plurality of preset thresholds, and determining a residual mileage estimated value of thevehicle based on the condition that the residual electric quantity reaches any one of the plurality of preset thresholds; and prompting the remaining electric quantity and the remaining mileage estimated value in a voice mode. According to the voice prompt method of a vehicle, the reminding of the battery capacity and the remaining mileage and the alarming of the low battery capacity can be realized, so that a driver does not need to always pay attention to the display of the battery capacity on an instrument panel, does not disturb the sight of the driver, does not need to distract driving, and can drive a vehicle more securely and safely.

The assault bridge simulator also includes a trainee station operably coupled to the instructor’s station. The trainee station includes a trainee compartment sized in accordance with a cabin compartment of the tracked vehicle and adapted to emulate the cabin compartment of the tracked vehicle in the simulation. The trainee stationincludes at least one control panel adapted to receive control inputs to effect a change within the simulation and at least one display unit to render the simulation and effected changes therein.
[021] Publication No. DE3005304 relates to the command transmitter consists of two basic sections, one in the turret of the vehicle and one in the body. A central lever in the turret is used by the vehicle commander to transmit instructions and is connected to a command transmitter from which electrical cables lead to an electronic unit via slip-rings. The instructions to be transmitted to the driver are stored in digital form in this electronic appts., which as soon as the control lever is operated, transmits the steering order to the headphone set via a cable. An optical indicator unit in the form of a head up display in the field of vision of the driver is also bed from the electronic unit via a cable, and displays illuminated arrows signifying the direction the commander desires the vehicle to take.

[023] The article entitled “Ford patents tank turn systemclever sand ladders integrated into body” by Chris Bruce; motor1.com; Apr 25, 2022talks about the ford's other patent goes by the name "methods and apparatus to perform a tank turn" and is specifically for electric vehicles. As the company describes it, drivers would select on a display whether they want the model to spin clockwise or counterclockwise. Depending on the direction, the system would brake the appropriate front and rear wheel. The tech would also decrease the suspension load on the same wheels. From there, the powertrain would turn the other wheels in opposite directions so that the vehicle starts spinning. By reducing the suspension load on the braked wheels, there's less friction on them when turning.
[024] The existing analogue driver’s panel will use two separate control boxes Viz., Tacho-generator and Reverse start protection unit for Tank reverse start protection purpose, the case may arise when recovery tank is climbing uphill, accidentally if engine stops, tank will roll back due to inertia during that time due to reverse crawl speed the engine should not re-start and it should be protected with engine shutdown mechanism to avoid major accidents.
[025] In order to overcome above listed prior art, the present invention aims to provide a digital driver’s control panel integrated with controls for special purpose vehicle.
OBJECTS OF THE INVENTION:
[026] The principal object of the present invention is to provide a digital driver’s control panel integrated with controls for special purpose vehicle.
[027] Another object of the present invention is to provide a programmable digital driver’s display system that can start special purpose vehicle’s engine by electrically (or) pneumatically (or) combined way with help of a controller and starter-generator motor
[028] Yet another object of the present invention is to provide digital driver’s control panel which is highly reliable and has low power consumption.
[029] Still another object of the present invention is to provide digital driver’s control panel which diagnoses the fault and data acquisition easily and reduces complexity of circuits/cable wiring harness.
SUMMARY OF THE INVENTION:
[030] The present invention relates to the programmable digital driver’s display system that can start special purpose vehicle’s engine by electrically (or) pneumatically (or) combined way with help of a controller and starter-generator motor. The functions of various electrical control boxes Viz., reverse start protection unit, high gear engage protection unit, tacho-generator, recovery aggregates control unit operations are of compact size, form fit and function drop in facility in the latest programmable digital driver’s panel.
BREIF DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION
[031] It is to be noted, however, that the appended drawings illustrate only typical embodiments of this invention and are therefore not to be considered for limiting of its scope, for the invention may admit to other equally effective embodiments.

DETAILED DESCRIPTION OF THE INVENTION:
[039] The present invention provides the programmable digital driver’s display system that can start special purpose vehicle’s engine by electrically (or) pneumatically (or) combined way with help of a controller and starter-generator motor. The functions of various electrical control boxes Viz., reverse start protection unit, high gear engage protection unit, tacho-generator, recovery aggregates control unit operations are of compact size, form fit and function drop in facility in the latest programmable digital driver’s panel. Referring to figure 1, digital driver’s panel consist of following three parts.
1. Digital display
2. External panel
3. Removable panel
[040] It monitors data from various sensors viz temperature, pressure, RPM, speedo, battery voltage etc., It accepts digital low & high inputs from user and sensors, analogue inputs from various sensors. Figure 2 shows flowchart for the programmable digital driver’s display system.
[041] Digital display panel provides ride comfort and easy manoeuvrability of the driver. It provides user friendly smart interface as it is Indigenous Programmable Digital version controlled by ARM Cortex controller. It eliminates four control boxes(Reverse start protection unit, High gear engage protection unit, Tacho-generator, Recovery aggregates control unit) with a compact system integrated in the driver’s panel in compact space.
[042] It is for various analogue inputs, discrete low & high inputs, discrete high & low outputs and frequency measurements can be programmed with required sensor characteristics through program key-in facility. Display brightness is controlled up to 4 levels (20% to 100%) based on user climatic conditions.
[043] The panel is highly reliable and has low power consumption, diagnoses the fault and data acquisition easily and reduces complexity of circuits/cable wiring harness.
[044] The external panel controls electrical power supply to various equipments viz. starter-generator, pumps control, gear down lock override, fire fighting system, blower control, tank lighting controls, navigation, fuel/smoke grenade, periscope, bilge pump, heater ON/OFF etc. installed in the recovery tank. It selects crane/dozer, suspension locks, dozer ON/OFF etc.
[045] The removable panel is a visual signalling device to indicate critical state of the monitored parameters, installed at the driver’s hatch. It is connected to the driver’s panel with pigtail cable. Discrete event signals connected to Driver’s Panel is read and processed for visual warning on removable panel as caution and warning indication. Removable Panel operates on DC power source (Battery system) through Driver’s panel. It comprises 7 Bi colour LEDS to Indicate 14 critical status.
[046] The panel protects the engine when reverse rotation is detected and protects the gears in the 6th and 7th gear position operation using gear down lock mechanism. The selection of operation of recovery aggregates viz., crane, winch, dozer and tank suspension interlock mechanism during operation of recovery aggregates.
[047] All operating hour counters (analogue gauges) into one 7 segment display. The invention replaces legacy gauges with programmable colour coded LED Bar graphs and on-demand parameter readout displays, unique features/functions specific to special purpose vehicle by eliminating the existing four control units, which are being used for analogue version of driver’s panel.
[048] Procedure for reverse start protection in the digital display panel is shown in figure 3 (a,b):
1. When engine (1) rotating in clockwise, shaft (2) will rotate in clockwise direction for the normal forward drive.
2. Driver’s Panel (5) monitors the output signal sequence of RPM transmitter (4) unit mounted on engine and verifies the correctness, allows the engine to continue with start operation.
3. Accidently, when the engine (1) happens to rotate in counterclockwise (reverse) direction.
4. The output signal sequence of RPM transmitter (4) unit would be out of phase as shown in Figure (3).
5. Under such condition the reverse engine starting protection mechanism card (6) in Driver’s panel (5) would monitor the signal and recognize it to be out of phase.
6. Activate the protection mechanism output to an electromagnetic solenoid (7) so as to stop (Shutdown) the Engine with assistance of linkages (2) within 4 sec.
[049] Procedure for high gear engages protection for digital display panel:
1. In armoured recovery tank, control logic is established for lowering gears at high speeds, specially from gear 7 to gear 6 and gear 6 to gear 5.
2. Moving from low gear to high gear is not controlled, whereas from high gear to low gear at high speeds is restricted by activating an Electromagnetic contactor, which restricts the gear lever movement.
3. When the tank is running on 7th gear and speed is higher than 44.5 kmph, the electromagnet will be energized, it restricts the gear lever movement to down shift from 7th gear to 6th gear position.
4. The tank is running on same 7th gear and if the speed falls less than 39.5 kmph, the electromagnet will be de-energized, it releases the gear lever movement to down shift by the driver.
5. When the tank is running on 6th gear and speed is higher than 32.5 kmph, the electromagnet will be energized, it restricts the gear lever movement to down shift from 6th gear to 5th gear position.
6. The tank is running on same 6th gear and if the speed falls less than 27.5 kmph, the electromagnet will be de-energized, it allows the gear lever movement to down shift by the driver.
7. There is an additional provision of override switch in the driver’s panel by which driver can override the logic.
[050] Gear down lock engage (or) dis-engage is checked by the driver through a signaling lamp on the gear selector interlock system.
[051] The flow chart for gear down lock protection mechanism is shown in Figure (4). The display panel is programmable to have a unique controls of driving features in the field. It has a unique controls of driving features for armoured recovery tank.
[052] The invention is specific to the tank/ tracked vehicle, A programmable digital display bargraph controls and monitors the power pack parameters, recovery aggregates controls such as winch, crane, dozer blade etc. The driver panel will protect-
(i) Starter-generator not to start when the tank is rolling down on up-hill, when engine is in off condition. Starter-generator is a single unit used for both starter & generator operations, very specific to armoured tanks. The protection of this unit is very much important.
(ii) Gear down lock protection mechanism by detecting the tank speed with programmable driver's panel.
[053] Fig. 5 shows method of signal processing and fig. 6 shows driver pane to removal panel interface. The driver display panel is programmable and can be configure to suit any analog and digital sensors or transducer used in vehicle. The driver panel is in built with feature of reverse Engine Starting protection system. The panel controls the Gear control lock mechanism which can be used during high speed of vehicle and its changing gear. The driver display panel generates audio and visual alarm signal when any parameter is beyond normal values. The panel also generate/ flash error signal code for easy diagnosis for various input lines.
[054] The driver’s display panel is the electronic portion of the driver’s instrument panel with a controller that acquires data from different sensors and actuates control signals based on the inputs and give corresponding output in form of display and audio and visual.
[055] The driver display performs real time processing of all input signal and process the same i.e., signal conditioning and feed to the controller, where required discision are taken to display, the parameters and also if command signal required to generate at the output ports.
[056] The driver’s display panel shows all the acquired parameters. Each parameter has a 32 tricolour LEDs arranged as a vertical bar graph. A button at the foot of each graph shows the digital engineering value of the selected parameter in the time location window (7 segment). The magnitude is shown as a bar graph. The colour of the LEDs is green, amber, and red that correspond to the safe, cautionary, and critical limits of the parameter (fig 5).
[057] Numerous modifications and adaptations of the system of the present invention will be apparent to those skilled in the art, and thus it is intended by the appended claims to cover all such modifications and adaptations which fall within the true spirit and scope of this invention.
,CLAIMS:WE CLAIM:
1. A digital driver’s panel comprises-
a) Digital display which can be configure to suit analog and digital sensors or transducer used in vehicle which control the gear control lock mechanism which can be used during high speed of vehicle and its changing gear.
b) External panel controls electrical power supply to various equipment installed in the recovery tank
c) Removable panel, characterized in that 7 Bi colour LEDS to Indicate 14 critical status connected to the driver’s panel, indicates critical state of the monitored parameters, installed at the driver’s hatch with pigtail cable wherein discrete event signals connected to driver’s panel is read and processed for visual warning on removable panel as caution and warning indication.
d) A visual signaling device to indicate critical state of the monitored parameters. It is installed for quick convenient service at the driver’s hatch wherein removable panel operates on DC power source through driver’s panel.
2. The digital driver’s panel, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the panel protects the engine when reverse rotation is detected and protects the gears in the 6th and 7th gear position operation using gear down lock mechanism.
3. The digital driver’s panel, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the driver display panel have capability to generate audio and visual alarm signal when any parameter is beyond normal values. The panel also generate/flash error signal code for easy diagnosis for various input lines.
4. The digital driver’s panel, as claimed in claim 1, wherein procedure for reverse start protection in the digital display panel includes following steps:
a) When engine rotating in clockwise, shaft will rotate in clockwise direction for the normal forward drive.
b) Driver’s Panel monitors the output signal sequence of RPM transmitter unit mounted on engine and verifies the correctness, allows the engine to continue with start operation.
c) Accidently, when the Engine happens to rotate in counterclockwise (reverse) direction.
d) The output signal sequence of RPM transmitter unit would be out of phase
e) Under such condition the Reverse engine starting protection mechanism in Driver’s Panel would monitor the signal and recognize it to be out of phase.
f) Activate the protection mechanism output to an electromagnetic solenoid so as to Stop (Shutdown) the Engine within 4 sec.
5. The digital driver’s panel, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the procedure for high gear engages protection for digital display panel includes following steps:
a) In armoured recovery tank, control logic is established for lowering gears at high speeds, specially from gear 7 to gear 6 and gear 6 to gear 5.
b) Moving from low gear to high gear is not controlled, whereas from high gear to low gear at high speeds is restricted by activating an electromagnetic contactor, which restricts the gear lever movement.
c) When the tank is running on 7th gear and speed is higher than 44.5 kmph, the electromagnet will be energized, it restricts the gear lever movement to down shift from 7th gear to 6th gear position.
d) The tank is running on same 7th gear and if the speed falls less than 39.5 kmph, the electromagnet will be de-energized, it releases the gear lever movement to down shift by the driver.
e) When the tank is running on 6th gear and speed is higher than 32.5 kmph, the electromagnet will be energized, it restricts the gear lever movement to down shift from 6th gear to 5th gear position.
f) The tank is running on same 6th gear and if the speed falls less than 27.5 kmph, the electromagnet will be de-energized, it allows the gear lever movement to down shift by the driver.
6. The digital driver’s panel, as claimed in claim 1, wherein the gear down lock engage (or) dis-engage is checked by the driver through a signaling lamp on the gear selector interlock system
