The present invention pertains to a groundbreaking phytosomal gel formulation designed to provide comprehensive relief from acne. Acne, a prevalent skin condition 10 characterized by inflammation, bacterial overgrowth, and sebum production, often presents challenges in conventional treatment approaches. This invention represents a novel and advanced solution that harnesses the therapeutic potential of plant extracts using state-of-the-art drug delivery strategies.
15
Phytosomal Technology:
Central to this invention is the utilization of phytosomal technology, a cutting-edge drug delivery method. Phytosomes are lipid-based complexes formed by the interaction of plant extracts with compatible lipid materials. In this formulation, the chosen plant extracts are carefully encapsulated within phytosomes to enhance their bioavailability 20 and permeability. This technology addresses the challenge posed by the polarity of active compounds, which often hinders their efficient penetration through the lipid-rich skin barrier
Plant Material Selection and Extraction: 25
The invention incorporates a strategic selection of plant materials renowned for their antibacterial, anti-inflammatory, and skin-soothing properties. The selected plant materials, including achyranthes aspera, amaranthus spinosus, pomegranate, Green tea, and others, undergo a meticulous extraction process. The plants are shade-dried,
6
powdered, and subjected to soxhlet extraction using ethanol. The resulting extracts are then processed to remove solvent residue under vacuum, yielding concentrated and potent plant extracts.
Formulation Development: 5
The invention's formulation development involves the creation of phytosomes by combining the concentrated plant extracts with compatible lipid material, such as Soya lecithin and cholesterol. Various ratios of plant extracts and lipid material are explored to optimize the phytosomal formulation. The resulting phytosome complexes are obtained through a carefully orchestrated process involving solvent evaporation, 10 refluxing, and sonication. These thin-film phytosome complexes are then dried and sieved to achieve a stable powder form.
