A Test Rig For Determining Characteristics Of A Magnetic Thrust Bearing And A System Thereof
Abstract: ABSTRACT A TEST RIG FOR DETERMINING CHARACTERISTICS OF A MAGNETIC THRUST BEARING AND A SYSTEM THEREOF Present disclosure discloses a test rig for determining characteristics of a magnetic thrust bearing (106). The test rig comprises a housing (102) and a rotatable shaft (104) supported by the housing. The shaft (104) receives the bearing having at least one electromagnet (108) at a predefined gap (111) from a thrust disc (110). A loading mechanism (114) is connected to the electromagnet to apply axial load and exert magnetic force on the disc. A linear bearing (116) is movably connected to the electromagnet to displace the electromagnet relative to the disc. A support mechanism (120) is connected to the shaft to support rotation and attenuate axial loads. A plurality of sensors is coupled to the bearing to sense the reaction forces acting on the electromagnet due to a rotation of the shaft along with the displacement of the electromagnet, to determine bearing characteristics in response to the applied axial loads.
