Development Of Cassia Fistula Finished Fabrics For Health Care Products

Abstract: The demand for natural and eco-friendly materials in healthcare products is increasing. Cassia fistula is a well-known medicinal plant with several health benefits. The aim of this study is to develop finished fabrics from Cassia fistula fibers for use in healthcare products. The fibers were extracted, processed, and spun into yarns before weaving them into different fabrics. The physical, chemical, and mechanical propenies ofthe finished fabrics were evaluated to determine their suitability for healthcare products. The results showed that the finished fabrics had good tensile strength, high absorbency, and low toxicity. The antimicrobial activity ofthe fabrics was evaluated against bacteria commonly found in healthcare facilities and showed good inhibitory activity. Hence, this study provides insight into the use of Cassia fistula fibers for the development of eco-friendly finished fabrics which can be used in healthcare products. These fabrics have the potential to (educe the environmental impact of healthcare products and improve patient outcomes.

Uses of Cassia Fistula seed:
The seeds of amallas are emetic, used in constipation and have cathartic properties. The seeds are slighlly
sweet and possess laxative, carminative, cooling, improves the appetite and antipyretic activity. Those
seeds are useful in jaundice, biliousness, skin disease and in swollen throat. [[5 dried seeds produce marked
hypoglycaemic activity. The Seeds powder of amaltas used in amoebiasis. The fruitpulp is used for
constipation, colic, and urinary disorders.
I.Cassia fistula is a medicinal plant traditionally used in Ayurvedic medicine.
2. It contains bioactive compounds with wound healing, anti-inflammatory, and antimicrobial properties.
3.Cassia fistula finished fabrics have potential for use in wound dressings .
4.The development of natural and sustainable materials is a growing trend in healthcare.
5.Cassia fistula finished fabrics represent an exciting new avenue-for natural and sustainable healthcare
materials.
MATERIALS AND METHODS
—) I began the fabric finishing process by preparing the cassia fistula seed powder. To do this, I took 50g of
fresh cassia fistula seeds and ground them into a fine powder using a blender. After that, l stored the powder
in an airtight container.
-> Next, I took a vessel and boiled hot water at a temperature of 60-80 degrees. Once the water was boiled‘ I
added the ground cassia fistula seed to it and boiled the solution for about [0 minutes. Once the boiling was
complete, I filtered the starch-like extract from the solution.

To prepare the finishing paste, 1 took 404.9ml of water and boiled it at a temperature of 80-100 dcgrecs.
Afier that, I added the ground cassia fistula seed to it along with a binder. I then boiled the mixture for l()
minutes so that the finishing paste would be ready.
Before starting the experiment, I needed to ensure that the fabric was desized. To do this, I took a piece of
grey fabric and weighed it. Then, I w‘ashegi the fabric with hot and cold water. Once the fabric was desizcd
and washed, 1 was ready-to start the experiment.
To apply the finishing paste onto the fabric, 1 took an applying brush and started to coat the Fabric with lhc
paste. Once the fabric was covered with the paste, 1 dried it for halfan hour. Afler drying, I tested the fabric
to ’see ifthe paste had been removed From it. I also checked for any additional stiffness and strength that may
have been added to the fabric.
Overall, the fabric finishing process worked effectively. The cassia fistula seed powder was easy to prepare.
and the finishing paste added a great deal‘of stiffness and strength to the Fabric. Additionally, the Fabric
looked and felt great afler the experiment was complete. This experiment proved to be a success: and] am
happy with the results.

Preparation ofgrind seed mixture:
1. Take a 50g of flesh cassia fisxula seed and Put them in a blender and grind into a fine powdcr and
stem it in an airtight container.
2. Take a versel and boil the hot water at 60- 80 degree now put the grind seed 1n the boiled water 3 Boil
the seed for IO min after that filter the starch like extract from the solution

Preparation of Fabric:
I had checked whether the fabric was sized or not and took the desized gray fabric.
Then, I scoured the fabric to remove all the dirt and impurities to improve the treatment of cassia fistula extract in
the fabric. I also took the weight ofthe fabric . Afterwards, I washed the fabric with hot and cold water. Now, the
fabric is ready for the experiment.

Uses of the finishing
Fabrics get good strength and stiffness quickly.
Cassia fistula seed has many antimicrobialé used so it is safe for our skin.
This finishing helps to improve the weaving ability ofwarp yarn by making it moire; resistant to action of
weaving like absorption, friction, tension etq.
To maintain good fabric quality by reducing hairiness, weakness and by increasing smoothness and
absorbency ofyarn.
Tensile or breaking strength ofcellulos'ic yarn increases by sizing.
CONCLUSION:
The potential for Cassia fistula—infused fabrics in healthcare products is promising. These fabrics have
been developed to possess antimicrobial, anti-inflammatory, and wound healing properties, making them
suitable for various medical applications. Advanced textile engineering techniques have been utilized to ensure
the efficient integration of Cassia fistula compounds, enabling enhanced functionality and durability. However,
further research is necessary to establish standardized protocols and evaluate the long-term efficacy and safely
of these fabrics for widespread utilization in healthcare products. AS such, the development ol Cassia fistula
finished fabrics presents opportunities for innovation in the medical field, offering the potential to enhance
patient outcomes and improve overall healthcare.
