Airborne System For Accurate Engine Exhaust Temperature Measurement With Audio Visual Alerts

Abstract: Title: Airborne system for accurate engine exhaust temperature· measurement with audio-visual alerts Accurate measurement 6f Engine exhaust temperature of an aircraft is important not only for its recording and display in/from particular avionics system but also to generate audio visual alerts to flight crew to avoid any fatal accident The design presented Figure-1 has been used to meet such stringent requirement in avionics. This design compensates the additional temperature ·deviation observed in system, in case system is mounted in the vicinity of high temperature area in aircraft. The system (100) consists of thermocouple sensor (1 02), protection circuit (1 04) and printed circuit assembly (1 01 ). On-board processor. (1 08) compares the temperature of . thermocouple sensor mounted ·in the aircraft with the temperature of printed circuit assembly and this temperature deviation is compensated by on-board software. Based on the accurate and precise temperature measurement, the system generates audio-visual alerts ( 1 03) to flight crew for taking necessary action to control the rising engine exhaust temperature of aircraft.

Specification

1 Title of the Invention
Airborne system for accurate engine exhaust temperature measurement
with audio-visual alerts
2 Field of the Invention
5 The present invention relates to airborne electronics that. is associated
with 'the critical parameter measurements which are recorded for analysis
and diagnostic purpose as well as in warning generation to the flight crew.
3 . Background of the Invention
Engine exhaust temperature. is critical parameter in airborne application. It
10. refers the gases temperature during the internal combustion process in the
engine. Monitoring of this temperature is crucial for the perform_ance and
durability" of the engine. High exhaust temperature is indicative of the
efficient combustion but excessive temperature may lead to the issues
such as overheating and potential component damage ..
15 Controlling exhaust temperature is vital for optimizing engine efficiency. It
allows adjustment to the air fuel mixture and other p·arameters to ensure
proper" combustion, maximizing the engines performance while minimizing
fuel consumption. Aircraft engine operates under extreme conditions and .
~igh exhaust temperatures· help prevent overheating, which could lead to
. 20 damage and reduce the lifespan of the critical parts.
Exhaust temperature is a factor in emissions regulation. It affects the
combustion efficiency and composition of exhaust gases. Monitoring and
controlling these temperatures contribute to meeting environmental
standards and reducing the environmental impact of air travel. Excessive
25 exhaust temperatures can pose safety risks, potentially leading engine
failure or other critical issues.
Engine exhaust· temperature can reach extremely high temperatures . .
during combustion. Thermocouples are well suited for such applications as
they can withstand elevated temperatures making them reliable for.
