Development of locating fixture used in Jig Boring operation for U shape

2 Field of the Invention
5 The present invention is related to design and development of metallic
locating fixture used for alignment in Jig Boring operation for U shape
aircraft assembly parts. These locating fixtures are manufactured through
3D CAD model, used in aircraft industry and related to Mechanical
Engineering field.
10 3 Background of the Invention
Conventional way of alignment for U shape aircraft frame assembly in Jig
Boring operation requires huge amount of time and highly skilled operator .•
Prior. to this invention alignment was being done by manual dialling
method on aircraft frame components. Due to manual dialling method, thet
15 pilot holes was not used to aligned properly with positional accuracy,
which. resulted in ovality in holes, shifting of holes and difference in wall
thickness of component.
Requirement of this locating fixture has been sought to align U Shape
assembly with desired positional accuracy of holes and meet design."'
