Optical Fibre Cable With Improved Pneumatic Feeding

Abstract: The present invention provides an optical fiber cable (100) comprising one or more optical fibers (102) enclosed within an outer sheath (104) of the optical fiber cable (100). The outer sheath (104) surface has an average roughness (Ra) in the range of 1 to 4 µm, and a maximum height of roughness (Rz) in the range of 6 to 15 µm, wherein the outer sheath material comprises high density polyethylene (HDPE). The outer sheath (104) material has a low coefficient of dynamic friction. At a distance of about 1850 m, the optical fiber cable (100) has a blowing speed greater than about 70 m/min. FIG. 1A
