Abstract: The present disclosure relates a processor-implemented method for detecting faults and determining a remaining useful life (RUL) of elements of a vehicle. During 5 operating condition of the vehicle, vibration data, acoustic data, topographic information, pitch and roll data and a wear debris data from the elements is collated. A memory unit of an electronic control unit (ECU) stores a collated data. One or more faults in the elements is identified by correlating the collated data with multiple benchmark data. The type of fault and RUL of the elements is predicted 10 based on the identified one or more faults on determining the criticality of the faulty element operation, the topographic information in direction of motion of the vehicle, and a driving pattern, and the RUL is predicted by considering variation in a load experienced by vehicle in the direction of motion and topographic information. 15 Figure 1 is a representative figure.
