Abstract: The proposed Invention (Ref Fig-1) is linearly regulated power converter. This converter is specifically developed for aircraft. However this technology can be used in any domain to realised light weight and compact linearly regulated AC to DC converter. Modern Aircrafts are equipped with sensitive equipment and more than one DC electrical power sources are used to improve reliability of the power system. For achieving balance parallel operation of two or more power converter the output of all the converter should be constant in all input power and output load conditions. Hybrid technology of var.g!il,ti9~lJl'ter and step regulation is used to produce linearly regulat®- ~4:Qltfi!{?d power from a variable AC input voltage and variable frequency source. This system increase/decrease the input AC voltage in linear mode whenever DC voltage goes down/up automatically. System thus maintain the DC output voltage with required output voltage.
Title of the Invention
Linearly Regulated Power Converter using Hybrid Technology of
variable output inverter and step regulation.
2 Field of the Invention
5 This invention in general relates to aircraft main DC electrical power
generation system. More particularly this invention is related to
Linearly regulated DC electrical power source of Fixed Wing and
Rotary Wing aircraft.
3 Background of the Invention
10 Modern Aircrafts are equipped with sensitive Avionics, sophisticate
communication and precise weapons systems. Such type of
equipment's required superior DC electrical power for its smooth
operation. More over more than one DC electrical power sources are ·

The disadvantage of un-: tal~nce parallel operation in one of the
aircraft platform having step regulated DC power supply make it unsuitable
and led background to this invention.
3.1 Prior Art
The previous art D1:831/DEU2013 for another aircraft was an
20 unregulated DC power supply or Step-regulated DC power supply.
The disadvantage of constant voltage drop in unregulated DC power
supply or output change in steps make it unsuitable for avionics
working in close input voltage tolerance. Step regulated output also
make the power converter unsuitable for parallel operation in case of
25 multiple TRU working in parallel. Due to unsymmetrical change in
output of step regulated power converter due to change in input
voltage or output load, difference between the current shared by each
Power Converter cannot vary more than 10 % of rated load. This
variation is not acceptable as per Military Aircraft Power requirement
30 (MIL-STD-704).
