Rotary Drum Dryer Cum Bag Opener For Drying Raw Materials In Waste Management System

Abstract: The present invention relates to a rotary drum dryer cum bag opener (A) for drying raw materials in a waste management system, comprising: a hopper (1) with a pushing arrangement type inlet feeder (2) configured to receive municipal solid waste (MSW) or other raw material; an inlet chute (3) connecting the hopper (1) to a rotary inner shell (7) of a drum dryer (A); the drum dryer (A) comprising: a rotary inner shell (7) fitted with spirals, lifters, and spikes configured to transport, mix, and open garbage bags of the feed material; a fixed insulated outer shell (11) surrounding the inner shell (7), forming a heating zone; and one or more volatile gas burners (12) or biomass burners (12a) disposed at a combustion chamber (12b) to provide indirect heating of the inner shell (7); interconnection pipes (6) configured to transfer hot flue gases from one outer shell (11) to another for heat recovery; a moisture vent with an exhaust fan (5) for removal of vaporized moisture during drying; and a discharge chute (19) for discharging dried MSW.
