Abstract: Provided is a hot-dip galvanized steel sheet, in which a base steel sheet has a specified chemical composition, a steel structure contains, in % by volume, 0 to 50% of ferrite, 1% or more of tempered martensite, 5% or more of retained austenite, 0 to 15% of fresh martensite, and pearlite and cementite in a total amount of 0 to 5%, with a remainder comprising bainite. When the hot-dip galvanized steel sheet is measured by GDS, the maximum value of the Al concentration in an Al-rich layer present at the interface between the base steel sheet and a hot-dip galvanizing layer is 2.0 mass% or more, a value of Sis/Sib in a region just below the interface is 0.90 or less, and the number density of recessed parts each having a depth of more than 2 µm in the interface is 2.0/100 µm or less per interface length. The hot-dip galvanized steel sheet has tensile strength of 980 MPa or more. Also provided is a method for producing the hot-dip galvanized steel sheet.
