Abstract: The present invention relates to a method for evaluating a negative electrode active material for a lithium secondary battery and a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery, comprising a negative electrode active material which is determined to be suitable by the method. In the evaluation method, by non-destructively quantifying the degree of side reactions that may occur in a negative electrode active layer after activation, the material suitability of a negative electrode active material included in a secondary battery can be determined with high reliability, and the negative electrode active material determined in this way has the advantages of excellent high-temperature stability and excellent lifespan characteristics when applied to a negative electrode.
