Abstract: This label-affixing device comprises: a feed mechanism that has a supply roll having rolled thereon a sheet in which labels are provided on a base material with an adhesive material interposed therebetween, and a take-up roll for taking up the base material of the sheet supplied from the supply roll; a printing unit that performs printing on the labels; a release member that releases the labels from the base material of the sheet fed by the feed mechanism; an affixing mechanism that affixes, to the outer circumferential surface of a cylindrical body, each of the labels having the front end thereof in the feed direction of the sheet released from the base material; a detection unit for detecting the outer diameter of the take-up roll around which the base material is rolled; and a control unit that controls the feed mechanism. When the detection unit detects that the outer diameter of the take-up roll has become equal to or more than a predetermined outer diameter, the control unit controls the feed mechanism so as to start a preliminary release operation for releasing the front end of a label from the base material, and moving the sheet backward so that the label is returned to the base material, and, after the preliminary release operation, releases the front end of the label from the base material.
