Abstract: The purpose of the present invention is to provide a piston that is for a buffer device and that can suppress sound generated during passage of oil. A piston (100) comprises: a body (110) which is cylindrical and through which a first through-hole (113) and a second through-hole (114) are formed in an axial direction; and a seat (120) which protrudes from the axial-direction end surface (111) of the body (110) in the axial direction and on which a flat plate-like valve sits. The seat (120) has: a bottom surface (127) in which an opening (128) of a through-hole (125) formed at a position opposite to the first through-hole (113) is formed; a seat surface (124) which is provided around the bottom surface (127) so as to protrude from the bottom surface (127) and on which the valve sits; and an intermediate part (130) provided between the end surface (111) and the seat surface (124).
