Abstract: A battery module according to one embodiment of the present invention comprises: a plurality of chargeable/dischargeable battery cells; a module case which has an internal space surrounded by a plurality of surfaces and an opening allowing communication with the internal space, and which accommodates the plurality of battery cells in the internal space; and an end cover for covering the opening of the module case, wherein the module case has an open part provided in a first surface of the plurality of surfaces and opened by means of gas generated from a battery accommodated in the internal space, so the gas is discharged in the direction of moving away from the end cover.
