Abstract: By a method of establishing a charging protocol of a lithium secondary battery and a battery management system according to the present invention, a closed circuit voltage (CCVSOCx) and an open circuit voltage (OCVSOCx), which change according to a depth of charge (SOCx), are measured while charging a 2-electrode battery cell at each charge current (I), the measured CCVSOCx and OCVSOCx are substituted in Equation 1 below to calculate an internal resistance value (RSOCx), which changes according to the depth of charge, and an internal resistance profile obtained by plotting the internal resistance value (RSOCx), which changes according to the depth of charge, is collected for each charge current (I) to determine a limit depth of charge corresponding to each charge current from the internal resistance profile.
