Abstract: The present invention relates to a negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery and a method for manufacturing same. The negative electrode includes a negative electrode active layer, divided into a center region, an edge region, and a sliding region, on a negative electrode current collector, wherein the degree of alignment (O.I) of each carbon-based negative electrode active material contained in the center region, edge region, and sliding region satisfies Equations 1 and 2, and thus has the advantage of exhibiting high rate charge/discharge performance and high energy density with a small change in volume during charge/discharge.
