Abstract: The present application relates to negative active material, a method for preparing same, a negative electrode composition, a negative electrode comprising same, and a lithium secondary battery, the negative active material comprising silicon-based active material and a carbon coating layer surrounding at least a part of the outer surface of the silicon-based active material, wherein the carbon coating layer includes carbon having ID/IG of 0.1-1.2 when measured via Raman spectroscopy, and the silicon-based active material includes at least one selected from the group consisting of SiOx (x = 0) and SiOx (0 < x < 2), and contains 70 weight parts or more of SiOx (x = 0) relative to 100 weight parts of the silicon-based active material.
