Abstract: The present invention relates to a battery system and a pack connection method using same. The battery system includes: a battery device including a plurality of battery packs connected in parallel; a plurality of switches connected in series to one of two terminals of each of the plurality of battery packs; and a battery management system (BMS) that divides the plurality of battery packs into a plurality of pack groups, determines at least one battery pack belonging to each of the plurality of pack groups, determines from among the plurality of pack groups one pack group which is subject to a discharging operation, and transmits a switch control signal for turning on, from among the plurality of switches, at least one switch connected to the one pack group and turning off, from among the plurality of switches, the remaining switches other than the at least one switch, wherein the plurality of battery packs each include metallic lithium in the anode material thereof.
