Bumper Cap, And Shock Absorber

Abstract: This bumper cap is used in a shock absorber. The shock absorber comprises a cylinder, a piston provided inside the cylinder, and a piston rod having a first end portion linked to the piston and a second end portion that extends from the cylinder. The bumper cap comprises: a lid portion which is provided on an end portion of the cylinder on the side from which the piston rod extends, the lid portion being formed by diecasting or injection molding, abutting an axial-direction end surface of the cylinder, and having a through-hole through which the piston rod is inserted; a cylindrical tubular portion which is provided further toward a radially outer side than the through-hole, and which covers at least a portion of an outer circumferential surface of the cylinder; and communicating holes which are provided in the tubular portion to provide communication between an inner circumferential surface and an outer circumferential surface of the tubular portion. An edge of the communicating hole is narrower in a first end portion positioned on a downstream side in a direction in which material flows during molding, than in a second end portion positioned on an upstream side.
